If we cant have strict road crossing rules in whole of pakistan then we should have them atleast in capital city which is small and manageable and this tragedy would have been avoided. We should have same rules as Dubai.

we had some close calls with idiots on that very road, and once a idiot came infront and was walking slowly like he owned the road, we braked hard, the car stopped inches away from that p.o.s. and the funny thing that my dad stopped and called that idiot furiously and he kept on walking.

Well even after the strict enforcement unless pedestrian have some road traffic sense such events will keep on happening I live across a road which is 6 lane each-way and passing by very densely populated area. It's not a highway rather a Boulevard. Every few hundred feet a red light. Speed AND Red Light Camera Every Other corner. Reason so many pedestrian getting killed. Almost in double digits in last few years. At all valuer able places they came up with these signs as well. But as everyone commented.. people due obey and respect the signs and it goes both ways drivers as well as pedestrians..

Slow crossing pedestrians are even more dangerous tahn those pr!ck motorcycle walas dashing blindly here n there.

One should not be judgemental as still there are contradictory reports about the crash. Benefit of doubt should be given to the injured lady driver unless proven guilty.

I really wish to agree with you but cannot. My santro crashed into a rickshaw because of a pedestrian. We were at 50 km/h and a pedestrian appeared out of nowhere. We braked and turned the car. It went straight into a rickshaw and was fully damaged from it's rightside. The fender went in about 10 inches, the engine compartment was also effected and the light/grill were in pieces.. All this just to save the pedestrian. We should always try to stop whenever these people appear. I know that there are time where you know you won't be able to stop. Even then, we should try to brake as the decrease in speed may just save the person's life. 'Uraa do' is a very easy thing to say. You never know of the responsibilities which the other person has. Brake and try to save them, donot turn your car. just brake.

As for the accident, May the departed souls rest in peace. Nothing can save you when you don't want to save yourself. First of all, these cars are not ment to be driven at highspeeds.

The driver survived the crash. All I can say is that these articles are 70% wrong, I can't really tell you how it actually happened. Since, we are not at liberty to say anything on any public forum.

She was my class mate cousin. I read her janaza today. There were total 7 girls in car. The driver swerved due to a stupid pedestrian and car got hit on sidepath and jumped, went it to other side lane onto a car as you can see in pictures. It happened around 2 pm . She was taken to G6 poly clinic.
No one took her due to police case phobia. She was breathing after accident. She fell out of car and got hit at back of head which proved fatal. Her jaw also broke.Police came and took her to hospital ( this not confirmed as family is in too much shock to ask them anything ). All others were saved and had fractures and bruises. Front two girls were wearing seat belts so they remained in car, werent thrown out or anything.
And no one swerves car on high speed else there is a reason. All of you know how "Iron-Man" pedestrians are who think cars are made of paper and cant do any harm.

Kindly Pray for her better afterlife.

Car drivers naturally have bigger responsibility than persedtrians. But what to do when a single idiot is crossing road even after seeing you and you have cars on either side of you and cannot brake. Same thing happened to me two or three days back at chuur. Left and right of me were car with family and in front a super human pedestrian. i had no choice so took name of God and went straight. Pedestrian sahab was air sandwitched between mine and other car. A inch here or there he would have been dragged with mine or other car to some distance. What one should do then? Save a idiot human and put life of other families in jeopardy. Pta nhi kb aqal aye gi logon go. Being Muslims we should be humble but our egos touch sky.

windshield is broken from middle so i guess some1 sitting on rear seat that was in between front seats otherwise front seats would have stopped others atleast

If the empty clip is in place to quieten the alarm, she doesnt need to wear a belt (common sense at its best) - usually because it ruffles up the ladies attire and the belt has a habit of sitting between their chest appendages. anyway.

A similar incident happened in Houston about 3 years ago on IH 10 - anyone who has seen IH 10 anywhere knows what it is. 5 lanes per side with 65 mph speed limit. Two people tried to cross it on foot in the mid of the night near Katy and one of them died as a car hit the person. The driver was not charged with any crime as it was not the driver's fault - There is not supposed to be a pedestrian on a 65 mph highway - its got 4ft barriers on either side.

Their excuse - they would have to walk half mile either way to get to a bridge that can allow them to walk under it. - YEP SOLID EXCUSE. Their ethnicity was "south asian"

all these avenues have sign forbidding to cross the road yet people still run infront of a speeding car dont know thinking what

that was US so driver was not charged but here even the public might give a good thrashing to the driver saying u killed an innocent man :S let alone the police charging him with murder case

when some1 suddenly comes ahead of u,what should be the best course of action?even if a car ahead of me suddenly brakes,that gives me a mini heart attack though i keep good braking distance always into which people start fitting in :mad: driving bumper to bumper esp to overtake

exactly, seen incidents in which people are dying and some lunatics are making videos of those people's.

there are numerous incidents in which a idiot pops right up on a main road and gets ragdolled, and the other's come up and start to %^%* the driver and not see the fact that the chawal crossed the road without looking. and especially if a women is hit (seen in front of my eyes) was going home from college when I heard screeching noises, looked up and saw a old hilux skidding down the road and eventually hitting a parked mehran and in between the two vehicles was a young girl who was crossing the road carelessly, people gathered and one took the hilux driver out and started beating him like a maniac and other's supporting him, the driver could do nothing but stand there & get F%@*&d up. later the girl was transported to a hospital as she sustained major injuries and fractures.

serious steps must be taken to educate people about crossing roads and use the damn overhead bridges. period.
