Mate, you are being a bit overboard while expressing your emotions
The issue is that we never refer to any of the Muftian for being an authority upon astronomy but the best astronomers of Pakistan accompany them while they are doing this along with satellite generated images and the proper work done. Where these scholars come in is the place when they provide the necessary grounds for the sighting of moon concerning Eid and Ramadan etc.
They don't teach arabic as a matter of fact my mate (I know you referred to any subject). You must have a researching mind as it seems to be from your posts so please try to look a bit more into the system what is being taught at Mufti sahab's madrissah for example. Only dars e nizami contains rigorous studies of 8 years concerning ilm e deen (fiqh), ahadith and usool e hadith (which in itself is something an ordinary bloke like me can't comprehend easily) and doura e hadith sharif. These are only some aspects of it and then comes the place where these people start getting the expertise. Those 8 years are just the preparation and then comes the phase to try and excel in any of them so if they say anything about Hadith Sharif, they know it better than us. Do you have any idea my mate how a hadith is evaluated? A mate back there was very logical when he told that the journey from Makkah sharif to Madina sharif took a week in those days so if anyone came from some distance and told about the sighting of moon, he must not be out of the particular area while in those days, nothing had been devised which could convey a message from the subcontinent that the moon had been sighted to the whole Islamic world should observe Eid. The message or the sighting had to be from somewhere within the distance to communicate properly and within time for sure. In larger countries there are even 3 Eids not because of some differences but the dates of moon sighting. If Mr. kakakhel is an astronomy enthsiast and a scholar at the same time, isn't he more capable of telling that the moon has been sighted than any of us people here? Advice for him to teach in any university is something irrelevant here.
I suspect the comments in bold were directed towards me so I tried to explain it in another way yet again. I would appreciate, however, if you take time to read my post patiently line by line and think about it because you didn't seem to pay attention to the part where I stated that MET people also accompany RHC in the last post.
Lastly, I would ask you to be a little gentle while talking about scholars as these are heirs of the Prophets A.S according to a hadith shareef. Had them been not working throughout their lives to preserve this all, you wouldn't even have the idea about the ruwwiyyat and its position in shariyah and we would be thinking what Eid is and when should it be celebrated. The maulana at the masjid doesn't necessarily qualify for being a scholar and generally mohallah or area masjids have people appointed who have basic knowledge of daily issues and deen.
