Push down your car from front fendor (right or left), if it bounces back then your shocks are done for. Good struts never bounce and are stiff. Remember, once the suspension will be opened, probably all of the bushes will be worn out along with z links too. For an old car like yours, you probably will need to change the entire suspension but you will get a clear picture once the mechanic opens the suspension up.
If affordability is an issue, you can have your front struts and bushes and z links replaced and can change the back ones later on.
