hello PW,,,,,,here is my friends 1991 mehran car carcass,,,,,,believe me this car is a hell on wheels,,,or coffin with 4 wheels,,,,,,or what ever suits for this,,,,,,,,it need a complete restoration ,,,,,,,,obviously i dont have much patients to work on it and neither have any time ,,,,,,,,,so this car goes for restoration to a road side noncompetent denter/painter,,,,,,,,,each and every part of its body is rusted away ,,,,,there is hardelly any flesh left in this carcass,,,,,,,,,and each and every mechinical component is fixed by some kind of Jugar,,,,,,,wiring is totally mising and so does the dash board ,,,,,,he told me that its burned some time before,,,,so he ask electrican to completelly choped it off from carcass,,,,,,(sorry i am using carcass for this car),,,,,
my friend ,,,,layman,,,,,,asked me to assist me in this project ,,,,,,,,so i occasionally i pay a visit to workshop to check the progress,,,,,,,,and every time this car make me speachless,,,,,,its floor pan is completelly changed,,,,,both frount fenders changed,,,,,,one door pannel changed,,,,,,,frount and rear bumper of new model along with brackets just purchased today ,,,,,,,,frount grill of new model is also been purchased today,,,,,,still many more things need ,,,like door inner pannels, tail lights , door rubbers, inner roof lining , dash board , carpet , and many more , it need a complete new wiring which is hard to find in old parts stop,,,,,,i havent check market but may be we can find some china made, any how will check that later,,,,,,so now let the pic start comming ,,,,,,,

looking forward for more restoration pics,, ,is the restoration project completed or its under process? if completed what is the cost of its restoration?

no no ,,,,its CNG system is active,,,,,and petrol system is i think dead,,,,,,,,CNG was leaking at the moment i take pic,,,,,,,,you can see lot of oil around cylinder valve,,,,,,and i think that cylinder is also pak made,,,,,or atleast its not good quality italian made ,,,,,,,

well i think so ,,,,,,and also the owner on such mission ,,,,,,i requested him dont fill this cylinder once its empty,,,,,,and he told it still has 200Rs gas in it ,,,,,,actually these days denter use this car as a daily runner from his home to his workshop ,,,,,,,,i spoted another strange thing in his workshop,,,,,,,,,,,,,he make a cheap self made system to collect acetylene gas ,,,,,,check its pic,,,,,,,that truck tire tube collects all the gas comming from a pipe which holds the carbide rock in it ,,,,,,,,another pipe from that tube feeds the welding torch ,,,,,,,thats you can call a disaster waiting to be happen,,,,

its on the way these days,,,,,,,,pic are recent,,,,,,and about cost ,,,,,i think denter ask 14K for this pathatic job,,,,,,cant say any thing about paint job,,,,,,,i but a pair of new shape bumpers i n 1200,,,,,,bumper brackets cost 420 Rs ,,,,,,new shape painted front grill cost just 150 Rs,,,,,,this comming saturday we will carry out a complete rebuilt of its front and rear suspension including CV joint replace and steering rack repair,,,,,,,,,but all that will be done by mechanics,,,,,,i will only watch/assist,,,,,,,,

Todays progress ,,,,,,,,,in my absence denter has test fitted front bumper and grill ,,,,,,,,,hope so front face will be perfect ,,,,,,,,, grinding the body with steel cutting blade and further weakening the body,,,,,,,every time this car just make me speechless ,,,,,so let the pic speak themself ,,,

yeah i know this light purpose is to glow on low fuel, it used to work in JDM cultus, but in Pakistani version, there is no such light, or they didnt bother to put a bulb behind it and make it functional ,,

you should make a separate thread for the restoration of mehran, eg: Suzuki Mehran Restoration Project,

anyway best of luck with the restoration, what is the estimated budget of total restoration eg: inclusive of engine overhauling, decoration, floor mats, stereo system, lights, indicators etc

and how much time a complete restoration would take?

the roof is buckling, the floor is shot. this is a money pit. you cannot save this car as it will never be solid again. The unibody structure is collapsing.

well its almost been choped out ,,,,,,,,,,burned from many places ,,,,,,,couple of times it caught fire,,,,,,,,i check market for new one ,,,,,,old kabli is not availabe ,,,,,,,,new from pak suzuki cost 3800 Rs ,,,,,,,,,chinese one cost 2600 Rs for complete wiring from battery termial to rear break lights ,,,,,,,,

yeah dear you are right , but its not in my hands , the owner has very weak pocket ,,,,,,,,,,,but this car wont die or end up in junk even if we sell it out ,,,,i think cars in pakistan wont die,,,,,,,,they endlessly recycled and reused ,,,,,,,,,no fitness certificates here,,,,,,,,,,no MOT as people have in UK ,,,,such cars cant pass MOT and cant be taken on roads,,,,,,,,
