Cultus engine oil?

Hello pakwheelers, I just bought Suzuki cultus 2016 model (old shape) I need expert advice regarding engine oil & which engine oil grade to use. Previous owner was using Havolinr 20w 50. But I topped up Havoline 10w 40 3ltr after 2500 kms it is decreasing it's level may be bcz I've topped up just 3lts and cultus capacity is 3.5 ltr. I'm a bit confused please recommend which engine oil (brand) and which grade to use. Car's milega is around 165,000 kms

Get it checked first. You might be burning oil. Also check for leaks.

I have been using havoline 10w40, never had a problem with it.

Perform a compression test. If the numbers are decent. 10w40 or 5w40 is best. Thinnest oil that you could go on a zero meter of this shape or an overhauled engine is 5w30.

I've checked there's no prior leakage. What if I top up half litre or 1 litre again to maintain it's level and then check again after a week. I think it's happening bcz I topped up 3 ltr not 3.5 which is it's actual capacity.

My Khyber has at least 300k km (meter stops working every now and then). I use Caltex 10w-30; it loses a 1-1.25 liters every 5k km or so, which is perfectly normal. I just top it up when required. PCV valve is clean, and no smoke on cold starts or during driving. The spark plugs are oil free too.

This has been discussed countless times on the forums; use 10w-40 in your car without thinking about it.

As for the oil reduction problem, it should be alarming only if you are losing multiple liters frequently.

Check the usual culprits of oil consumption if you are worried; check the PCV valve, especially if the car has been running on direct fan without thermostat.
