Cultus G10 engine overhaul

Hey guys hope you are fine during the pandemic. I'm planning to do a complete engine overhaul after this virus goes away. I have owned this car for about 2 years now. It does not have a t-stat and when I bought it, it was running on direct fan. I used to put it on auto in winters and direct in summers. It reduces 1 liter of oil after 1500 kilometers so i have to keep topping up. So about a month ago the engine got heated up and blew the head gasket. Towed it to my mechanic and he told me the head was too far gone. Since the head was previously shaved too much which means it got heated up quite a few times. Also I could see main block also reached its limit. One piston was .75 or .50 i cant remember exactly. Middle one was also loose I could feel it move back n forth with my finger. Third one was alright don't remember what number was that on. So he told me to put a double gasket as it was there before, run it for a few months, save some money, come back n do a overhaul. I went out to market look for an assembly and its quite expensive. In Rawalpindi Mithu ahata they were askin 50-60 K for a Jap assembly. Came back sad and told him to go ahead with double gasket. So far its fine with the direct fan except for the oil reduction and bubbles in radiator and little bit water reduction but i can't rely on this car for a long road trip to my hometown.
Also the mechanic was telling me something about crank noise. Which I'm not sure about what noise he was talking about. I never noticed any noise may be you guys can help me figure out what noise he was talking about. I'm sure it will be there since the engine is running cold. I wanted to do an assembly change that would be heavy on my pocket and the con is resale! It wont give me back what I have invested in it. But there is a so called expert jan'ne wala uncle and he got me convinced with an overhaul since he kept a cultus and he knows mechanics and kharadias and he told me it will be around 20K im not sure whats his plan of overhauling but i told him the condition of engine.

So my overhaul plan is to
1. Put cylinder glass/sleeving and go for standard 0/0 OR I could go for 1.0
2. Do valve jobs if needed
3. Replace crank if needed or sleeve it too
4. Replace head or weld it I'm not sure
I need some expert opinions about this engine job. Shall I go for the overhaul? Or a new assembly is the only solution?

As you mentioned, it needs a complete overhaul so it will cost you around 35-55k.
new rings , pistons, valve seals, head gaskit, oil pump,
Crank grinding, and lots of things are included brother.
Even Mehran complete engine overhaul costs around 38k. How come you can overhaul complete engine of cultus in 20k?

the engine conditions you are mentioning refers to changing assembly as a best and safest option. i would like to recommend you to go GmotorSports or contact @dani_kk for more expert opinion.

well they quote that initially, but when they start working on engine, the price can double up.

Happened to my brother, he recently overhauled his Khyber's engine. Quotation was something around 25k, but he spent 40k in the end to complete the job A to Z , but the car is running fine now Alhamdulillah : )

This is just a hoax, 20k is never a proper overhaul with new oem parts. I suggest you get the block properly assessed, and if its rusted, swap.
No point spending a fortune and having a car run for a year

This job needs pulling everything out and seeing what can be used, what not. And behind that keep pocket filled up so incase if you've to go with the assembly you've sufficient cash.

estimates are never final. sometimes its like impossible to judge the engine condition unless its get opened up.

Ok thanks guys really appreciate. Since its obvious overhauling is costly and its much better to go with a new assembly. I can go with either a Singapori assembly which is bit cheaper or with a Japanese one. Need your input on that as well. I will have to get the engine number changed on reg. book though. Any idea whats the fee these days?

Opt for the Japanese one, those are usually in better condition, fee shouldn't be more than 3k

Go for assembly change... This is the best option you have considering the current condition of your engine.
NEVER listen to the so called overhaul budget of mechanics they will try to convince you for engine overhaul to increase their labour charges.
I have changed my assembly about 2.5 years ago and have driven about 40 to 45k and its still going good.
I got this assembly from mithukhan for 42k plus old assembly this one was sealed japani engine (there were singapore assembly which cost less but i opted for the best)
I can share the contact number of the person from whom i got this engine... get 1 month warranty and bargain as much as possible (he was asking 52k in my case) plus you need a very well experienced mechanic to check the engine before buying.

There is an option to get old engine number punched on the block of the new assembly...
Someone mentioned this on pakwheel but i have no idea from where this can be done in rwp also this is illegal i guess

Same happened with me totally relate-able my car's engine was almost in the same condition i got the jugaar done like you have done by putting two gaskets but it's not going to work at all as soon as the weather gets hot those gaskets are going to blowup again. Just go for JAPANI assembly change only i got that done last year in June i got it for 47K from mithu khan ahata saddar rwp i was also getting the same rate (55-65) everywhere but my mechanic basically a pathan he's a very good friend of mine got some dakkhana matched up with them and we got it for 47K i can share his number with you if you would like and he can help you in that.
Allhamdulillah i am very satisfied with the decision engine is very powerful and i am getting very good fuel average as it was sealed and on zero size piston i am using Zic 10w40 engine oil with thermostat and auto fan and zic coolant Allhamdulillah never reduced a drop.

Recently i got the car transferred on my name the owner was not here so i heard March 1 was last date ( which was not as it has been changed again for the hundred time maybe) so it was going to cost me 6k i asked them the procedure for engine number change aswell so you will have to take the car to 15 office adjacent to liaqat bagh get the engine number verified not stolen etc it costs around 2k to get done and then you will have to go to excise office with the receipt you are going to get from the vendor you got the engine from and submit 2k in NBP get the challan form and submit to excise office.
I wasn't bothered about the engine number so i only opted for transfer. My mechanic was telling me that the engine number can easily punched in chah sultan market i am not worried about engine for now.

i can get your old engine rebuilt in similar amount to factory condition, but you will have to bilty it to Lahore.

if you still plan to swap, let me know how much the scrappy is willing to pay for your old engine, i may be interested. Is it efi or carby?

I have a Suzuki khyber engine with me complete. And engine was good 8/10 condition. We swapped it with G15A so open to good offers.

I need 4 cylinder Efi cultus or baleno engine* but i will think about the khyber engine.
