I have been using 10/40 Kixx on my Efi Cultus. After recent work on the engine mainly valve seals, valves, and piston rings replacement, mechanic is suggesting me to use 20/50 and insisting on it, no mechanic I have seen here in my area who says I should use 10/40 especially after some work is done on engine why? Apart from their jaan churrana excuse of oil leak what else is the problem?
I live in an environment where max temperature rarely hits 40 and temps in winters go below zero sometimes. What do experts here suggest? Should I go with 20/50 or go against the ustaad who will throw everything to keep me away from precious 10/40 and actually go for 10/40 as first oil after engine work?
P.S. ustaad might commit suicide if I go with 10/40...
A little update after engine was reassembled the ustaad let the car idle and within half an hour I could see the temp guage was at 80% very close to H but as soon as the fan starts it returned to middle, this happened quiet a few times in 2 hours but then it never went up from its normal position. Now I am not sure whether this was because of the recent work done to the engine or the fan somehow has decided to run at higher than normal temp, probably the reason it overheated in the first place. Before this overheat issue I never saw needle even reach the middle it was always a little below the middle mark. How does one check if the fan is running at the right temp, electricians usually only check whether the fan works or not, in my case the fans runs auto and does switch on but I am worried it might be switching on too late thus caused the overheat and is also doing the same now. Kindly guide.
