Cultus Radiator Generating Pressure

Dear PW memebers,

Alhamdulillah bought Cultus 2007 VXR just a week ago. On my drive through motorway to Lahore I stopped at rest area to check the condition of coolant in radiator. When I tried to open the cap there was much pressure in radiator and coolant started spilling out like a soda water bottle overspills. Radiator fan is direct and I suspect T.Valve is also removed hence temp gauge remain at 10-30 % and never reaches middle (50%).

I have got it checked from mechanic if there is issue with head or gasket etc but he told that head n gasket is fine. He advised to get radiator service as I also got same advice from my bro. Now I want to get radiator serviced so can someone please tell me where should I go in lahore to get it serviced from some good radiator wala? I heard that mechanic disassembles it and then have to take to radiator person and then again mechanic will reassemble it. is it true..? I fear some inexperienced radiator wala will mess it up trying to remove radiator himself so guys please suggest some good place where I can find both mechanic and radiator guy nearby..

After service of radiator, I will go for making fan auto and installing T.Valve if its missing.

which cap did u open exactly???? radiator cap or coolant reservoir cap???

if it was "radiator cap" then opening it while hot can scald, burn ur skin, the water is supposed to be under pressure in radiator, if there isn't any pressure it'll turn to steam and become useless for conducting heat out of engine and what u saw was perfectly normal(read the warning on the cap). if u saw bubbles in coolant reservoir than either ur "radiator cap" isn't working properly or there is a leak in the system, get it checked.

Thank you soooo much Bro Usman_aroog2 & atifnaeemmalik... Yes I opened radiator cap and not the bottle cap. I took full precaution and used a big cloth to cover the rad cap and opened slowly. However after waiting for 10-15 minutes with engine off there was pressure and after almost 20 minutes it was gone so I topped up with water and went on.
So its no big deal and I should not worry...right?

but another thing is that its not sucking water from the bottle and water gets reduced from radiator and bottle level remains same. I will check the pipe from bottle to radiator.

any suggestions regarding making it auto? and also temp gauge remains at 10-20% ... how can I check where it is connected to temp sending using on engine? I will also try stopping rad fan to see if needle rises up to middle point or not..
My brother also suggested to get radiator serviced to make sure its all well so please suggest any good one in Lahore.

again it could be the cap, also fill the bottle only uptill the full mark(its gonna get thrown out any way but sometimes it also creates problem in sucking), 50% temp is normal and essential for a healthy engine but them suzuki gauges aren't reliable, so it should stay between 20-40% for normal operation and max 55% when a/c in stop n go traffic. can't recommend any particular shop but cooling system should be fully auto. as if there is any problem it is gonna overheat on long drive anyway but a proper working system can indicate problem much earlier.

some precautions for getting radiator serviced:

take n keep everything with YOU that is taken off while separating radiator from body(rubbers, nuts n bolts, clips)
get a good quality rubber pipes for ur car(preferably from suzuki dealership) and change them, as old ones can leak upon re-tightening them as cracks are developed at their joining point.
get good quality concentrated coolant, mix it up with equal amount of water, after everything is fixed fill it up in radiator, don't close the cap and start the engine, fill some more and rev, it'll clear air then close the radiator cap and fill up reservoir. check for any leaks and go for a 20 min test drive with a/c, keep a keen eye on temp gauge.

Wow, great info bro. I was definitely looking for this type of advice specially changing the rubber parts after service. How about if I go to some suzuki 3s shop and get it serviced from there and at same time I will change parts from there too..(don't know if suzuki 3s provide rad service ) . I heard they are costly but will compare prices with open market and then decide.

Please also suggest some good quality coolant which I should use in my radiator as I mentioned I am new in this stuff so need guidance from you guys

get the radiator serviced and get the t-valve back with auto fan and some good coolant.the radiator must be pressurized

I have a cultus 2008 model. the same problem to generate pressure in radiator. the mechanic replace the gaskit and said now it is fine but within one day the pipes which goes to the water body becomes brust. so i again went at mechanic at told that gas kit is not working. mechanic again replace the gas kit and said now it is totally normal. You cant believe that within one hour the gaskit again burn. mechanic worried that what happened with this car. so mechanic decided to put double gaskit in my car. and Alhamdulila till to date never burn the gaskit, pressue of rediator normal. never reduce the water in radiator.
