Cultus RPM drops to zero after using carb cleaner

Dear PakWheels fellows,
My carby cultus 2003 was having a little rpm drop and hot start up problem. Diagnosed and it was the coil cable which was leaking current. Replaced the cable and things were OK.
My stupidity, I thought to clean carburetor with the carb cleaner so I removed air filter and sprayed carb cleaner spray in air intake. After that I reinstalled air filter and started the car. Car started but it was not staying idle. There are no problems in start up but it is not staying idle. As soon as I release race rpm drops to Zero and car shuts off. It is not holding RPM whether engine is hot or cold. I have tried for about an hour and waited may be it comes back to normal but no progress. Please help.

check for vacuum pipe to distributor & a.c idle up feed, either must be disconnected. OR, carb idle switch connection is broken. @syncview @margallar

Thanks capsat for reply. The thing is everything was normal before cleaning carburetor with spray. Please elaborate where to locate carb idle switch and how to diagnose?

Maybe you did not cleaned the carburettor properly or might have disturbed any other thing , there are screws on the back of the carburettor , use them for setting

Its also possible that the auto choke is working but the rpm is set at Zero, in that case the car will run on autochoke and after that whenever you brake the engine dies , happened to me some time earlier

Your IAC seems to be blocked due to debris loosened by the carb cleaner.

Thanks nfsmostwanted. Can you define which screws are applicable in my condition? I don't want to mess any other thing but can't take my car to any mechanic as its impossible to drive in this condition. I can hold rpm above 2k with paddle but once I try to bring it below 2k, it suddenly drops to Zero and car shuts off.

The plastic nut you're seeing in the pic will help you increase the rpm , i usually use this to increase or decrease rpm


The one circled is of petrol mixture , try not to play with it as i ruined the setting once

Thanks for your support. I tightened the plastic white screw as shown in pic1. The improvement was rpm now stayed above 3k without pressing race paddle. Then I slowly loosened the screw and rpm begins to drop but as soon as it goes below 2k, rpm dropped quickly to zero and car shuts off. I tried several times but same happened. Now please guide what to do next?

Yes if you're facing the car then its located on the back side of the carburettor on the right corner , it looks like that you'll need "L key" to adjust it

Have you checked the distributor? Is it placed correctly?

I just found the culprit. It was the auto choke that was some how stuck and didn't let the rpm to go down below 2k and if it goes below 2k by idle adjustment screw then engine dies to zero rpm. There is a black push type button below the choke. Don't know what it is meant for but solved my problem.
