I insulated the naked parts of low pressure pipe with insualting foam.insulating tape and aluminium pipe to prevent loss of cooling.Cooling has improved quite a lot.

i have tried this DIY on my xli last year, it didnt feel much difference.

it wont help much - asides the fact that you can now touch the lines, what matters most is the liquid line going into the evaporator. It should not be blazing hot or have insane high pressure and make sure the txvalve is reliably working.

that part is the suction line to the compressor, its the evaporator outlet, the inlet part is the thinner liquid line. When it reaches the expansion valve - it slows down into a trickle and boils over (soaking the heat from the evaporator).

People mistake this line as "cooling supply line"

btw - txvalve = thermo expansion valve, it regulates the liquid refrigerant and releases it slowly (depressurizing it) which causes it to become a gas (boil over) it sucks the heat from the evaporator making it cold.
