Cultus VXR 2000, a gem, a real workhorse

Recent work done.
I changed the petrol tank pump twice.. I bought the first one from bilal gunj for 900rs. It worked only for 3 months. Then second time I bought new, costed 1050rs.

the last time i changed my fuel pump was in early 2007 and it costed me about Rs. 2400/- back then, are u sure its the genuine one you have bought?

@Kamran.. i managed to keep the AC vents perfectly intact even if the car is nearly 10 year old now, but my 1 year daughter fiddled with it because of which the upper strip got broken.. i will go to inquire about its remedy today

I also have a 2000 - 2001 Cultus VXL and it has served us well despite of few minor problems, had to change the head gas kit but other than that its been okay, i find the car to be of much better quality than my friend's 2008 cultus. Maybe its just me being biased?

The one I bought from bilal ganj was genuine, for 900rs but second hand. The latter one was of taiwan, non genuine and was of 1050rs. Genuine was also available but was four times expensive i.e 4300rs. It was out of my budget :(. There was one other pump also available that gets installed in the engine bay, it was of japan and was of 2500rs.

4300 is way too expensive... gives u an idea about rates just a couple of years back.

some interior pics taken earlier this evening.. a clear view of the new floor carpet that i installed last month which gives a fresh feel to the interior. Also note that the seat covers are almost 3 years old now and apart from the faded text 'Cultus' nothing much have happened to them so far! they can be cleaned easily and they protect the seat fabric underneath quite efficiently!

one of the most practical advantages of this particular car SF310 aka Cultus is the awesome visibility outside the cabin for the driver. There are very least number of blind spots while i had difficulties driving Vitz & City 2004 as looking in the rear view mirror gives u a very little picture of the outside.. lets not compare vitz & city with cultus now, its just the blind spot factor that i wanted to highlight

And what average are you getting nowadays ?
I used to get 135-140km in one fill (without AC). Cylinder is 55ltr and it filled at Rs.380-390/-
But after getting my car tuned (both engine and cng kit tuning), my car's average dropped to 120-125km :(:mad:. Got it tuned after 10,000km. Now I am thinking why the hell did I get it tuned as nowadays cylinders fills in Rs.430-440/-
so the average of Rs. 2.8/km changed to Rs. 3.6/km

currently i am getting around 130km in each fill (without ac).. considering my driving routes these days which doesn't allow me to apply 5th gear, this average is relatively low, but i am not bothered. do note that my cylinder is of 50kg! secondly i have never get my cng kit tuned, yes never.. the settings have been tweaked a few times in these 4 years but the kit hasn't been serviced since it was installed nor do i get it tuned after certain intervals. it has also been advised by my cng technician not to fiddle if the car is performing well and giving a good average, and there is no starting problem either even in winters!!! the average amount per kilometer turns out to be around Rs. 2.69/ km for me.

just get it inspected thoroughly by a pro.. once set, don't fiddle it after 10,000km

got some misc stuff yesterday... apart from a relay work related to the assembly inside the steering wheel which wasn't allowing the low beams to operate properly.. its done now & all the low/ high beams & dippers are in perfect working order again!

have switched the the fog lamps connection to parking lights which was previously associated with headlamps, got a new steering wheel cover for Rs 200 (previous one lasted for 2.5 years) lolz, a pair of new brake & clutch pedal genuine-like covers for Rs 60.. installed new horn as well.. also got the servicing of instrument panel, the bulbs became quite dim as mentioned in previous pages.. the illumination now is just as good as new. will post images soon.

these sort of things just gives me a 'new' feel to my car and makes me keep loving her .. perhaps one of the reasons why i haven't got bored with the ride yet..

Cars and accessories prices in Khi are really unbelievable. Hell lot of difference from Isb market.

^^ though i have heard that cars & spares are expensive in Isb, never knew accessories are also expensive there..

@Usman: Nice Tidy Interior you have there. even after all these years... :). and yes these small works annoy a lot at times, and for your car which is a daily runner, these things are important.
