Yesturday my nephew swinged with the left back view mirror, and resulted in fall he was not hurt (thank God), but he had the mirror in his hands while lying on the ground.

GOt it repaired for rupees 200 the new base was for 450 as told by a friend.

oops... almost the same activity which my daughter did a few months ago.. but you're lucky that the mirror just came off, hence repaired.. mine got broke from the neck & i had to buy an after market one.

After being a silent listener for a couple of months, today i feel being a part of this wonderful thread as alhamdulillah i own a cultus now . It is a wonderful thread with so many brothers to help. I will be uploading the pictures of my ride within a few days. Here is my first question, which engine oil & oil filter you people recommend. Though there is a separate thread for this engine oil debate (didnt come to any conclusion from it). I need to learn about your personal experience in this context. Some friends recommended Liqui Moly, but which one is best for cultus ? . By the way my car started running in november 2005 and is just 28000 KMs old.

As for me I use Shell Yellow One as a Engine oil.

Welcome Bro...
I Used Shell Yellow in my prev cultus(01) and changed it every 3000Kms,
Now i use in my Cultus(07EFi) Caltex(Formula1) and change it every 5000Kms...

A good practice is, not to change the engine oil, other wise engine starts giving smoke(I have heard so )....

Also, i personally think there is no such thing as a bad car. your car is only as good as you choose to keep it. people have mehrans which are amazing and some people have altis which is not even clean.

welcome to pakwheels Ubajwa hope u stay here happily and help others sharing your experiences i am not a expert but as i own a cultus too so i would tell u my best experience hoping that will help u on board rest usman is the best person to tell u his experience , i am sure u can find atleast 10 threads regarding engine oil of almost all cars here now every one has there own experience the best person i found in this respect is Storm aka sameer he works for engine oil company and hes a man of wisdom on that topic coming back to cultus engine oil i would recommend u to stick with the one that the old owner been using in your car as changing oil is not a good practise still if u ask my opinion i would recommend u to go for caltex havoline formula , u would need almost 3.5 litre of engine oil for cultus , make sure u put a good oil filter i would recommend guard or leppon .

@xyshani: Yeah it is a well kept car, The previous owner just used it to pick and drop his kids from school. An average use of 16 KMs per day :), He kept it in stock condition, same General tyres, and evthing else. Moreover driven within islamabad. Did cost me a fortune, but alhamdulillah its worth it.
@shqamar: Thanks bro for the help, sure i will try contacting "Storm" for further guidance. The 3.5 liter you mentioned is both for engine and filter, i mean total 3.5. As i am in Islamabad, do you know of a place from where i can get genuine filters, or guard and leppon are always found aik number. What about suzuki's own oil filters, does they exist.

thanks for the appreciation and welcome to the thread UBajwa.. the oil and filter was discussed at page 9 of this thread when i bought this car i asked the previous owner for the oil he has been using n he mentioned Shell Helix Red, so i have been using it ever since.. although i have had a good experience with the Helix Yellow as well, so its always either Helix Red or Helix Yellow for me.. its a good idea not to experiment different engine oils..

I was a regular user of Castrol GTX and Castrol XL when i use to have Charade, in the early days of ownership of this Cultus i tried Castrol GTX and Caltex Havoline once each, but didn't had a good experience with them at all.. although both are good oils but dint suited my car somehow..

3.25 liters will be required, better have a word with the ex-owner about the oil he has been using.. about filters, i use SGP [Suzuki Genuine Parts] Air n Oil filters for my car which are available at almost every petrol pump..

ubajwa i am from karachi so i am afraid i dont know any places in isb so u have to ask any isb members for that as far as engine oil is concern u need 3.25 litres for your engine oil so u need a 4 litre pack and u can save the oil for the next refil u dont need any oil for oil filter its only a filter that change when u change engine oil and that filter has its own important i use suzuki oil filter but u need to buy the original one and its hard to find the original one thats why if u can find guard thats fine and as i have already said about engine oil its good not to change engine oil brand do queury the last owner and use the same one if its not giving u any trouble , do post your ride pictures .

AOA i even don't know and even didn't seen previous owner of car so i never knew wat oil he used but i put caltex havoline i see no problem in that.

kamranAslam my mirror also broken i repaired myself in 3 rupees i fix it having extra large screws and it is fixed.

@ALL: I was told that Cultus (carbi one) Enigine oil capacity is 3.5 Liters -- Please confirm . This 3.5Liter info was confirmed to me by The Shell Oils Help Line number given on each oil gallon.

I always use to wonder why this oil wala leaves almost a liter in the cann.

varies with n without oil filter.. some people say 3.5 liters required when oil filter is also changed. however i have always maintained 3.25l in my car.. as this was also told to me by the ex-owner.. if any such info from the user manual can be quoted, would be of great help.

@ All: i did contact Sameer sb "Storm", he was really very helpful. As i wasnt successful to get a good reply from the previous owner regarding the oil brand (might be caz his driver or son knew which one it is), therefore Storm suggested that i get the engine flushed by "liquimoly engine flush additive", as it is the best in market. He asked me to used any good quality mineral oil, specially Petromin (He is also the sole distributor for it and has got special offer for PW members) . More details can be seen here.

Got the left side mirror repaired today, as some kid tried to hang himself with it a couple of days ago , The base got cracked. Got it repaired from Omar @ Gulzar sons, G-9 I&T center, islamabad. His contact : 0345-5518633.
I am really satisfied by his quality of work, had already got the bumpers fixed from him a week ago (right after i bought the car).
He charged me Rs100 for the side mirror, and Rs 600 for both bumpers.
The side mirror is just like new now.
