I am a silent reader of your posts and am impressed by the way u keep ur car in tip top condition . I have one suggestion for u regarding the work which u plan to do on ur car . Have u tried to paint black paint (the one which they put on foot boards of car) on the rear wheels arches . I also own a khyber and my service station suggested that he would paint the antirust black paint on lower part of car for protection against rust . I also plan to do that since i plan to keep my car . what u have to say regarding this ??

good luck to u and your car usman , keep the pictures coming if possible and please tell us your denter and painter adress also how much roughly estimate he given u for all that work , looking forward to see the old pictures and than comparision of old to new ones .

@shqamar.. thanks for the wish estimated cost is around 10,000/- and the denter is located in Garden area, near Zoological Garden. will update the thread accordingly.

@Bignate.. i had a word with my denter regarding the under-body coating. according to him it wont really do much to prevent the rust and as he says is just another tactic to earn money..

not a full repaint, only the affected areas will be touched up!

usman don't change the headlights. u can shine them urself. i did with mine. just open the lights from ur ride and wash them with surf and plain water don't cut the genuine seal of the lights. from hole of bulb put surf in it and shake well . keep it in for some time then wash it with plain water. if it is faded from out side u can use tooth past and clean cloth to rub for 15 minutes. headlights will shine as new. u know wat those mechanic do they will cut the seal and will do the same wat i told u. i now the shop near makro. i pass daily from their going to saddar. some people here in defence phase I also do i watched them many time then i did my self.

i need some information if u know wat is genuine price of fuel pump of suzuki cultus any idea will be helpfull. my fuel pump is weak its running but not upto standard.

Thanks usman for the update . I thought that undercoating would help u and me especially as rains are more frequent in karachi . Does any one have any better idea for to stop this rust thing from spreading . Although its in small patches but then its better to curtail this than later . Also heard some good anti rust sprays . Do these help ???

thanks for the suggestion. i had got them cleaned twice before now & both the time done by the same person who handles the denting of my car. regarding fuel pump i can give u a rough idea that its somewhere around Rs. 3400/- market today is closed, will update you the current prices in a day or so..

rust was in its preliminary stage in some areas of my car, for me it was better to rectify it this way. will let u know about the anti-rust sprays after consulting a few fellows.

mazamwarraich well done dude what a fine way u know to clean the lights i tried few times but wasnt succesful will love to spend a free day with u to do the D I Y , let me know when u are free i am sure usman will join us aswell , your fuel pump well the current price of genuin fuel pump of cultus varies i am telling u 3 different popular shops of waterpump a) akbar autos they are selling it for 4200 rupees , b) quality autos they are selling them for 4300 rupees and superway autos they are selling them for 4400 now sadar market is cheaper so i hope u will get that pump some where around 3900 to 4000 let us know when u buy it , also discuss this with your mechanic cultus has a complain of these fuel pumps i just had a external one install and it works fine also make sure when u take your fuel pump out clean your petrol tank aswell keep giving us update dude hope this will help.

u r most welcome dear. only problem is u r far away from me i m near phase 1 Defence and u r water pump. any how can be managed. i m almost free every day. u have to inform me when u r free i guess most suitable day is sunday.

as my fuel pump is concern we took it out from tank two day before checked out it work fine but when fitted again some time it works and some time not. so mechanic suggested me to have external pump in hood. i agreed but my son didn't agreed. so i have to go for genuine. also both of u i mean usman and ur opinion will be appreciated in this regard what i should do go for genuine or for external or some one said second hand from kabar or of mitshubishi lancer. i m confused here .

mazamwarraich inshallah we will manage one sunday and i will visit u i am not familiar with karachi as i was living in england for yonks but i am sure i will manage as far as your fuel pump is concerned this is the fault of cultus fuel pump i had 2 spares lying that works some time and when car runs few miles it stops working and that i was telling u i agree with your son that original spec is original but if u go for original settings it will bother u every now and than and every time u have to open the petrol tank and take the fuel pump out thats just a bit hassle including costing of money and time if u go for external pump they last long and if they go out of order all it need it 10 minutes that save money and energy the only disadvantage is u will feel a bit of vibration in the body when that external fuel pump starts when car is on idle , there are 3 types of external fuel pumps korean brand , china brand and usa old brands if u decide to go for external one go for korean ones they last long and less voice when they starts so i will leave the decision on u any thing u like to ask feel free to ask us thanks and good luck .

@mazamwarraich/ @shqamar, my only problem for not being able to manage DIY is the lack of time, with a 6 days per week schedule its hard to find any time for DIY on Sundays.. anyway i was also suggested by a few mechanics to install an external fuel pump but i refused the idea. There is actually no fault with the fuel pump, its just that you dont have to let them dry.. always keep some petrol in your tank so as to let the fuel pump submerged in the petrol. Whenever it gets dry, it will go out of order. Even when you dont drive on petrol, keeping some 500 rupees petrol in the tank will eventually save your fuel pump worth thousands of rupees. Prices you have mentioned are horrifying, when i changed my fuel pump back in 2007, it costed 2400/- and since then its working perfectly fine as i never keep the petrol tank empty.!

i fully agree with usman here better option is to do the geniune work that is keeping the fuel pump inside the petrol tank but what i discussed with so many mechanics here and they all agree to that point that cultus fuel pump is crap they go out of order every now and than doesnt matter if u let them dry or not its cultus fault so that makes me put a external one outside though i am not satisfied with it but performance wise it seems very good question for usman when u bought yours back in 2007 was it new ? the geniune cultus one ? or u used kabli the mistubushi one ?

i almost furnished with fuel pump. i purchased new one genuine, even then problem was not solved. so some other problem were associated which solved also yesterday whole day i spent with mechanics. still some works balance which will be completed today. detail will follow after that insha Allah.

waiting for the details and yea fuel pump problem involve lots of other things aswell i had spend almost 3 days when i had that problem with my mechanic , make sure u service your carburator , clean your petrol tank throughly , change petrol filter and check all the pipes throughly for any chokes end , please let us know the price of new fuel pump and the shop u purchase it many thanks

here r the details of my expenses of all process.

Fuel pump Genuine = 4200/- Haji Auto's Saddar plaza

after fixing fuel pump again there was problem it does not start. so mechanic opened the carborator. fuel tank was absolutely neat and clean. visually petrol was also clean but mechanic claim petrol is not good. so he tried to fix the carborator. slow jet was not working mechanic could not opened the slow jet. so he took the carborator to carboartor specialist. they demanded 3500/- for service and if any part replaced that is separate. he took it back and try to fix new slow jet. it didn't worked. so he took vehicle to tariq Road their is ABDUL REHMAN MOTORS (carborator Specialist) they repair the carboartor and charged as following.

1. carborator service =600/-
2. Butterfly service =500/-
3. new slow jet =300/-
4. electric slow jet =300
   TOTAL =1900/-

labour charges of my own mechanic RS 1000/-

Grand Total = 7200/-

now my ride is in perfect condition Alhamdulillah. no problem at all . but who know's in future.

^ congrats, i also use to get my carburetor work done from A. Rehman Autos, they are reasonable in rates & quality of work is also good. rates of spares are exorbitant these days, imagine i got the genuine one for 2400/- back in 2007 and now its almost double!
