If compression comes out correct than issue might be valve seals.

Yes - you dont remove the cylinder head bolts on a hot engine as it may warp the head. But you would have to be very brave and also stupid to remove the head of a normal temperature engine

An Educated Mech. would never go for removal of thermostat valve. The silliest mechs go for its removal.

Removal of thermostat valve causes engine temperature to not reach it's required level. As a result the metal parts do not extend to there maximum OEM temperature range specified by the car manufacturer while they build their engines.

So it is way silly if you're mech. rips of the thermostat valve. Your'e mechanic skills are 0 if he is removing that....

My mechanic uncle has never removed thermostat valve, infact he is very much against doing this job as they are designed for the engine keeping something in mind by the manufacturere....

So for all you car users, if you're mechanic is going for direct fan after overhaul, do not let him tamper with the thermostat valve, and once you're done with the engine RUNNING stage, fight back with your mech and get the auto-fan circuit restored back because that is how the engine was designed to work, not with fan running all the day...

Bro if oil reduces very fast, i don't think a leaky valve seal could play a role in reduction of (ALOT) of oil as the thread initiator stated.

Minor oil reduction could lead you to that fact. Infact two facts:

1. The valve seal issue as stated by Vaqas1

2. It could be a minor crack in the head as well

but this is only if the oil reduction is there but not very fast i think according to my knowledge..

I maybe wrong too, but that's what my experience says..

Thank God - someone concurs. - talk about engine break in, when I did O/H in my shop I used to warm up the engine oil in a pan and then put it into the engine, start and run at normal temperatures for the whole break in with varying engine loads. The result was always beautiful. An engine will full compression, angry acceleration and nice economy.

if u change oil at time and clean air filter proply then it may be good for 3-4-5 years.........................

I have Honda civic 1987, Japnese engine installed some years back whose RINGS installed on pistons need to be replaced, but ring for exact size are not available in market. Question: Can I track engine specifications (specially RINGS dimensions) on net by searching it from its engine number ? or by any other way ? Help appreciated.
