Hello guys i want to share my experience about water pump aka waterbody replacement of my cultus.
One morning when i started my car i noticed unusual sound from engine.
I gave bit of acceleration it became prominent. It was like ruptured exhaust.
I took car to mechanic he said its from water pump. It needs replacement as it may leak any time.
i didnt believe him and went to another mechanic recommended by my friend. His diagnosis was same. So i gave him green signal to change it.
he asked Rs1200/= for job + waterbody costed Rs1450/=
When he opened timming cover i asked him to change timming belt too as i had no idea when previous owner has changed it,
But mechanic rejected the idea he maintained that it is quite good ( chalay gi sir no problm).
Whole job of fixing water body took 2 hrs. I took car home but felt car pick is down not responding as previously. I ran it to clear my doubt but the doubt was only confirmed.
Next day i went to him again to tell him the matter . He fiddled with distributor and race and asked his chota to go with me for test drive. During test drive he said to me i feel there is no issue way you tell. I took the car on steep slope and engine started making noise on 2nd gear . I said to him see i am pressing paddle and engine is not responding. He gave verdict that may be your clutch plate is finished. I said it cant wear out in one day. So we went again to ustad he told him in their language. Ustad said no problem water body is bit heavy it will ease out soon. I am advacing its timming little bit.
While returning from there i felt little better response from engine.
however this conclusion shot lived. Next morning i felt difficulty in overtaking a hiace on kashmir highway.
i went again to ustad he became rude and vanished some where. I asked hi chotas they said they dont know. I waited there for 3 hrs but he never showed up.
So i left his w/shop. And after 2 days went to another mechanic he opened timming cover and showed that belt is misaligned and also timming pully is extremly tight.
I asked him about timming belt he said its okey but few threds are comming out will last 3 or 4k i said to him change it at once.
as new will last 50k according to him.
so in sorting out 1fault 3 new faults were created by our un professional roadside mechanic i had to bear double labour cost
