i think there is nothing sad :). only thing seems bad is why cap came off. rest all seems fine. if radiator is clogged, it needs wash but it is not heating with ac so i think it is fine. use coolant in radiator. use new cap and keep eye on needle for few days.

Infact in morning when my wife was leaving, I checked water by opening radiator cap and looking into the reserve bottle (my usual practice) and I forgot to put the cap back on to radiator :(:(, and I came to know this when all that happened, later it was found in engine room...
and why its not bad?? fan keeps on running for long times? means engine keeps it self hotter which was not happening before..
and regarding radiator clogging, I changed radiator water few weeks ago, (mentioned few pages back), now all water was out and now fresh water was again poured...
any other member??

I think it is just the outside temperature causing ur radiator fan to work more... I has gotten quite hot after all! U might have not noticed it before...

Always keep your cooling system top-notch. If I were you, I would remove theremostat. Drive for about ten kilometers and then flush the system. Do it yourself. Don't get the radiator opened. Replace with a new thermostat and pour fresh caltex coolant.

So next week insha Allah i will go for toyota original coolant changed by authorized dealer. Havce heard good about caltex coolant but have no idea from where to buy ORIGINAL one. btw anyone from lahore can answer this? and its price? toyota coolant is about 2700 rupee.

No dear, I have always kept an eye on temp guage. Now I can clearly see getting it hotter bit early. And yes you are rite that outside temperature is also causing radiator fan to work more. Since last evening it was cooler than in morning time travel.

Caltex coolant can be bought from any good pump! I like caltex coolant alot-perfectly suits my cuore and works good at de-rusting!

price? and quantity? toyota coolant is about 1 gallon.

caltex coolant: rs 780 for 1 litre. add 1.5 litre of distilled water. available at caltex pumps.
or add zic coolant: rs 1000 for 3 bottles. it is premixed. available at auto stores.
removing coolant is very simple. just loose radiator drain screw a bit till coolant starts to come out. after coolant drains, tight with hand. i don't know why it is so hard for you

Sad news

Yesterday my car got heat up, I received call from my wife that the needle is going up from half point, I asked her to turn the engine off and pour water in reserve bottle. She did same, but after some time again I received call, claiming the same problem. I asked to repeat the earlier said step. The needle went upto 85% of the guage :(:'((A) (as per statement from my wife). Now when I reached home and opened bonnet, I was amazed to see that radiator cap was not there.....(A):'(. It was found fallen in engine room, I put cap back filled water, started the engine, everything was fine.
Then this morning I went to toyota walton for oil change, since I thought that high temperature engine may have caused oil to change its viscosity and It may have become thin, and may not perform its duty well now (it was only 1000 km driven since last oil change). So after oil change I was assuming that everything is fine, but now I feel that
-engine heats up to mid point more early then it used to do before (like u can say about in 25% faster time for needle to reach mid point) But it maintains it self there doesnt go above mid, and cooling system working well. Specially with AC it stays continuously at mid point.
-Earlier when I had long straight run on constant speed, the needle use to fall to about 30% of guage, even with AC, today it was not the case. (it was 12:00 noon to 1:30 noon)(today lahore has 37 degree Celsius)
so tell me
is there any problem with my engine? radiator??
or its due to hot temperature?? (remember today lahore was at 37 C)
what is the remedy? how to keep engine cool?

Its nothing to worry if the needle stay in limits. May be its getting heat up earlier as compare to before is due to the hot weather nowadays. radiator wash is only good if there is any clogging in radiator.. but as you said you have replaced a radiator few weeks ago so it should be not.

i think removing upper pipe will not flush all coolant and engine can heat up in seconds without water. better get it done by authorized dealer. if you want to do it yourself, use pliers to loose drain plug a bit if it is too tight for hand. it is as easy as that. if water is very dirty, you need to get radiator washed. if water is little dirty, you can flush it once with water and then fill coolant.

No, its gonna take a nice 5-10 mind to overheat.
Caltex coolant will cost 710rs and will be one liter concentrated. Prepare coolant with half water and half coolant. Took me a little less than two liters for the radiator. Fill the spare bottle to the full mark only:)

Hey guys! I was wondering if I should get cng installed in my cx automatic. My daily drive is about 60 kms and it is really starting to take a toll on my pocket driving it on petroleum. Besides, cng is available easily here in karachi.
Please share ur experience and tell me how much would it cost me.
Also, would a standard kit be installed or do we need something like an advancer etc etc for an auto tranny to work properly?
And what kg cylinder is recommended for the car?

Two More questions:

1- The person at Filter House told me upon inquiry that Zic "anti freezing" coolant 4 ltr. is of 1,450 rupee, question is can I use this "anti freezing" coolant in summer? or its just a generic term?

2- What happens if engine oil is poured more than required? this time toyota wala banda put oil which crosses F mark, then F alphabet and the 2 3 mm above that F alphabet? is it dangerous? or what is impact on engine or its performance generally if oil is poured more??

yes CNG can be installed. it is more economical. some members have installed it on auto cuore and according to them, it works fine. although my own cuore is CX manual with 40kg EKC cylinder and landyranzo after market. 55 kg cylinder can be fitted. i think normal kit will be installed as cuore auto is not EFi. AC works good on CNG although acceleration is considerably reduced.

over filled oil is not good. although manufacturers have built some tolerance but its better to stay under the limits. i hate it too.

coolant is supposed to be drained when it is hot and has been circulating and t.valve is open.
at this point coolant temperature is around 80-95 degree celcius. if now coolant is removed with engine running, it really will be seconds.
cold engine will take 5-10 minutes to overheat of course.
my profession is IT and not cars. this is just my opinion.

yes i know, i have a plan to share coolant with my colleague who owns santro..
so we will divide the coolant into halves and rest water will be poured..
