Custom Built Bobber

Hey Guys,
Finally after years of drooling, I bought my first chopper. However this machine is way too heavy stock and slightly underpowered therefore the Paul Sr in me decided to go ahead and convert it to a bobber. I always wanted to build a bike from scratch but its difficult considering the sourcing for parts and registration hassle in Pakistan. Altering something completely is the next best thing. This thread is mainly about the progress for this project. The plan is to do everything myself and come up with a new machine that's unique and capable at the same time.

Main Tasks

Remove excess weight
Shorten fenders
Alter Chassis (remove rear seat support)
Install new seat
New tyres/rims
Straight handle bar (cafe style clip ons maybe)
Change front light (small)
Lower the ride
White walls for tyres whenever they arrive
New exhaust pipes
Install rear light
Install number plate mount
Install rear indicators
Install new front indicators
Cut off secondary stand
New motor
Alter the exhaust
Rebuild front springer forks?

I started off by removing the Seats,fender,siss bar etc

Hi Ali, these bikes range from 50k-140k depending on the condition. I got mine for 60k after negotiating
Luckily mine was in excellent condition. Completely rust free all parts unbroken and in place.
The engine is 150cc. Its not as bad as it sounds considering it was designed for a loaded bike. Now that its shed alot of weight the performance has improved drastically.

Removed the airbox and the crash bar

Replaced the Airbox with a filter pod

This is what the bike looks like after removing excess weight and the filter pod assembly

So i found a template for a bobber seat pan online

Took a print out, glued it on a cardboard box and cut it to get a mock up

Got a cut out of the leather.

This is what the seat should look like later

The white string shows how the chasis will be altered and where the shocks will be re adjusted

The string shows a straight line where the shock needs to be mounted. This will lower it and add to the cosmetics. A pipe will also be welded along the line of the string upon which the seat will rest. Overall this will replicate a hardtail design but keep the final ride comfortable. The new positioning of the shocks might add some perpendicular strain and mess up the weight balance. Time will tell


The handle bars need to be removed




Went to this place that sells metal bars, i got a bar cut out of the same guage as the original handle
