there are lotto honest and good people in our nation, even in the most corrupt departments like police, customs, income tax etc hence our country is surviving!

I'm against this public harassment and strongly detest it. Law enforcement agencies SHOULD NOT have the right to harass citizens by searching their cars on checkpoints and sitting in them or body searching them and the passengers, without any warrant or particular reason. Everyone has some respect and its an insult to stand on the road in front of so many other people and get your car and yourself searched for NO REASON AT ALL.

They should only have the right to check your documents and ask you if they can search your vehicle and ONLY DO SO ON YOUR CONSENT; else they SHOULD NOT infiltrate your privacy if you refuse to get out of the car and stand on the road in middle of traffic, unless they can produce a warrant! They can get sniffer dogs to sniff around your vehicle if they want to do that!

dude i tell you the correct and easy way it should be

as soon as the custom is cleared the car should be registered showing its year...

this way all cars will be registered and if custom or police has an issue they should just call 'HQ check the registration against chasis against engine number..

and for people who want special plates can buy them from their respective registration etc

but this is all UK and a dream in pak

There have alot of criminal moving around in police uniform who stop people in the name of checking and then deprive them of their valuables. I must say u made an intelligent decision by not following them to their office, i still have my doubts that they were real custom people

On the other hand, i think you should always carry your document along, to say the least u must have an attested photocopy. If u had them u would have save alot of your precious minutes.

Also, it's nice that custom is keeping their vigilance high, i also pay a lot of my monthly income in taxes both directly and indirectly. I think rule should be same across board and those having illegal luxury vehicles should be dealt wiith strongly.

Otherwise, i want my registration charges and my monthly taxes paid for my very standard xli back

If you had the original papers (or a copy of them) with you, you would have saved ur time. Plus since there is a considerable number of NCP vehicles around us, no official can verify every car, unless it is found doubtful.
Plus I personally think you did wrong by resisting them. If you had cooperated with them, they would have spared you earlier. As it is a moral duty of all of us, that we should cooperate with the administration, but we feel ashamed when we are stopped by someone who wants to check our vehicle or documents.

Customs guys should be educated enough to identify a car - not stop any "SPORTS" car - it can be a Mazda RX8 or as the poster said he has an M3. If they are given their jobs and I am part of their salary I want some intelligence and education too, not some butt*ole that cannot identify or read/write or speak properly.

I agree with the moral duty of co-operating with administration, but it is their share to co-operate first. If they were customs etc. If they are seeing a car on the roads - they being "intelligence" can also come up with nicer ways of communicating rather than approaching like dacoits. I speak of Karachi experience and if anyone approaches like that bullets and theft are involved for sure.

Come on boy! why on earth they would be jealous of his or anyone's car?? Many luxury cars around nowadays are NCP. They are always looking for a big fish, so that they can get some commission over it. They saw a luxurious and expensive vehicle and they tried their luck over it but failed.

Buddy i hope you understand that they only tried their luck because the car in question is bearing a different plate every now and then, its having some UK plates for last few months, so therefore it becomes a suspiscion thats all. I am sure if the car was registered properly and bearing original plates then it would never come across this sort of issue. Take a minute out and think yourself that why all these people with expensive cars always keep their original plates on the car so they dont have to face any sort of issue at all. Max they would have to do is check the registeration book and chassis number, not even a matter of 2mins.
