Thank you so much for the feedback! to answer your questions;
Wrap maintenance, (esp matte colors) requires the use of water & a micro fibre cloth which needs to be used gently on the surface. THAT IS IT!! The 1080 Matte has a layer of protective laminate, but the use of an abrasive cloth other then micro fibre will eventually lead the matte to fade away and may lead to shiny areas on the wrap. People usually dont follow this discipline, (ive had many fights with my own drivers over this!!) and this is what leads to problems. Its advisable to keep one cloth in the car at all times, and several at home or the office where ever your car is cleaned.
There is a recommended polish in the 1080 manual which is the 3M tire restorer liquid! This is easily available at many authorised 3M car care outlets. This is used in very extreme circumstances.
We need to understand that a wrap esp a matte wrap needs to be protected and taken care off. Its very simple;
Use a Micro Fibre Cloth.
Dont wash the car every time, just use a wet cloth.
Do not go to a service station and have the pressure wash directly sprayed on a matte wrap
Try not to leave the car in direct sunlight for extended periods.
Do not leave it parked under trees, bird droppings are acidic and may cause stains.
Use a micro fibre cloth
We advise all owners to send the car in once every 3-5 Months to maintain their wrap. This is a free service where we check edges, air out any bubbles if any & give the wrap a good cleaning. We did some maintenance on the first matte black mark2 we did a few weeks back and it still looks new like the day it was wrapped. Will post some pictures.
Bubbles; the 3M 1080 vinyl ensures a bubble free finish. No car which we've completed, has ever been delivered with bubbles on the final finish (the owner would never accept it) nor has it ever come back for such a problem. im quite surprised to hear this, i would have expected the owner would have brought it in for repair. Yes 3M 1080 is warranted against this and we take care of it
On a personal note, two cars in my house are wrapped and they are parked in the open at all times.. no bubbles whatsoever..
Will give the owner a call tomorrow and sort this out. Thanks for the heads up!
