Cv joint axle replacement advice

Aoa guys,

my cuore's axle require replacement. This will be their first replacement since we bought it back in 2006. She is sparingly used like new with a clock reading of 70000km genuine.

I have been advised by Toyota and four different mechanics that brand new Japanese parts wont be available anymore. I am now left with the option to get used aka qabli or Chinese.

Ive been away from Pakwheels way too long and seem to have forgotten the ins and outs of the auto market.

Get a new one , this QABLI stuff is mostly repaired one being sold on higher price

As you have mentioned that your car is rarely driven , even a Chinese one will work for longer time

Buy sherry cv kit of chinese if they can fit in cuore they come with their own boots and grease ask lathe person to use same grease and boots they do last quite some time

Are they clicking or just started to leak?

If they just started to leak, buy a genuine boot kit and have them repacked. The factory parts are a million times better than aftermarket.

sigh of relief to hear from you old friend. Yes they are clicking if you turn them on a full and hard corner else if you are very sensitive and turn on a certain angle you wont hear any sound. One of the mechanics also suggested repairing the current installed factory cv joints due to their longevity and quality. Estimated cost for repair is 4500 rs

Ps were not sure if all 4 of them are gone unless they are taken out and inspected for repair.

Would you know anyone in Karachi who has proper tools and is not a grease monkey. Toyota eastern does a great job with not leaving any stains scratches or dents let alone hammer the nuts bolts and suspension hardware.

one more thing, the rear left bearing has been replaced 5 times , 3 by toyota while the 3rd was complimentary. It was later found out that the hub is faulty which is a rare case in coure. Now another mechanic suggested that i change the rear cross including the hub and get a kabli cross with a hub and bearing.... Im like sure hope they are not taking me for a ride

Well I have replaced Indus Corolla cv joint with chinese mtz company kit came with it's boot,nut,grease and locking clip since three months and it's working fine.The longevity of cv joint depends upon it's boot.If boot gets torn then if it's geniune,kabli or Chinese joint all will fail.So regularly check boots and replace asap if a boot gets torn.The kit costed 2500 rs for one side

Whoever you go to, make sure that they dont weld the shaft to the joint, ask them to lock the joint to the shaft with its circlip.

And if they dont have cv grease, buy some and ask them to use that and tell them the quantity too. Infact you can measure the quantity yourself and make little baggies of grease.

Alumdulillah got the job done last Sunday from Arif's workshop. Nice to see him after 20 years.. Told him to get a make over and stop looking like an old uncle . He still has a long way to go In sh Allah.

Mash Allah Cuore is back to its brand new feel thanks to Arif and his team. @Xulfiqar they did exactly as per your advice as they are a seasoned team.

cost for the entire job was 11000

1-5800 for Chinese Axle and good quality boots. Both the outer were worn out. One of the inner was in perfect shape. The rods are like new Alhumdulillah so it was an easy fix.

2-3000 for hub and bearing.Rear right hub got replaced with Japanese bearing. The irritating sound is now gone Alhumdulillah.

3-2200 for labor on both jobs.

Total time 3 hours.

Highly recommend Arif for suspension mechanical and denting as he has expanded to 3 areas of scope since first met him back in 2001. @brownrose78 JazakAllah for reconnecting me to Arif after two decades.

Thanks for the update otherwise 99.99% Pakwheelers forgets to update thread or submit feedback about the recommendations/suggestions given by senior pakwheelers or other pakwheelers too; No body is perfect so my opinion is simply that even if there is any negative feedback about any recommended shop/guy, kindly share it too so that one can update his/her views and conclusion about it.

Glad to hear that your work has done satisfactory from S.K Engineering but top of all that i am more happy to read that you met him after 2 decades with gray/white hairs We all have turned from Silky black hairs to gray/white infact Uncle/Chachoo looks......Mujhey bhee ab to road par, markets mey passers guzarney waley or Guzarney waliyan bhee Bhai nahi...Uncle Boltey hain
