I have a 2010 Toyota Premio with a 1.5L 1NZ-FE engine. The manual indicates that the gearbox requires 8.09 liters of gear oil, but my mechanic insists that only 4 liters are needed. Can anyone advise me on the correct amount of oil to use?
Additionally, we changed the gear oil last year, and the car has not been driven more than 5,000 km since then. However, the mechanic says the gear oil smells burnt, and he checked it through a scanner, which indicated it’s 5% life. What would you suggest in this case? Is there a way I can check the condition of the gear oil myself, and if so, how?
