Cylinder Head Porting and Polishing

Hey guys i came up with another crazy idea lately on how to make my car unique. as it says in the title im thinking of giving porting a shot.
i've read all the theory and what not but never actually seen someone doing it. does it really make that much of a difference? also in some cases i herd it can improve efficiency (ie mileage) is this true?
i plan to do it myself (yes i have access to all the tools etc) but if there's someone around here who can do it, i'd like to know abt him.
so lets hear what the experts have to say

its not a myth , its a proven reality,,,,,,,,,,once i have done that mod on mehran 91 followed by another mod done in carb to activate its second butterfly,,,,,,,,,,,,,car can fly up to 140 very very easily on AC/CNG,,,,,,,i belive if that same mod done in newer model of mehran with perfect body and suspension than it can easily cross 160,,,,,,,,,,,
its a very very painstaking job and need lot of patients ,,,,,,,i remember i spend almost 10 days on porting,,,,,,,,,,,,,you can see lot of junk metal which company wont care to cut off after casting ,,,,,,,,,,inside intake and exhaust port,,,,,,,,,also along with the valve seats,,,,,,,,,,,,,clean all of that ,,,,,,,,bore it by grinding off,,,,,,,,,,,also focus on trimming the head face to improve the compression ration,,,,,,,,you need burette to measure the compression ration,,,,,,,,
all that is not as easy as it sounds,,,,,,,,,,

i see i see, okay so did u get the job done by someone or a diy??
were the existing ports widened and polished or new ones made? if so how much were they widened. i herd of this thing called port matching but that seems like crap details please.... thanks

here is the thing - i do not let any mechanic port any of the engines i work upon let that be a sohc d15b vtec or a dohc h22! but hey! i rarely ask/touch the porting part,see porting a cylinder head requires abit of a technique not every one can a port a cylinder head properly porting a cylinder head only benefits if you really port both inlet and outlet with proper tools and shape them equally its the shape that makes power - not the shine
porting a cylinder head is not really just the phenomenon of taking a die-grinder and shoving it up inside out all the ports you have to make sure all the ports are grinded the same way/shape so that it creates equal turbulence/swirl/scavenging(at low rpm) and Airflow/velocity/CFM(at higher rpms) i learnt all this the hard way though! sigh
anyways i really dont share such tricks here but trust me porting the ENTERIES DO NOT BENEFIT AT ALL if you care to port you really have to port all the ports from the enteries till the valve seat all the area*WARNING:be careful not to overwork the seats as it will leak compression and wont let the valve sit properly*which damages pretty much everything
just get the stock ports polished to remove all the gum and varnish from the ports do not grind them at all! and even if you enlarge the ports it doesnot make any difference if you do not have a port-matched intakemanifold you'll just loose torque and will result in rough idling just polish the inlet and the exhaust ports*although polishing inlet isn't a good choice but oh well this isnt a race engine*

Dont be a USTAD GRIENDER as said by spoon already simply clean the scum on stock surfaces tht will also make improvements

yes well i didnt intend on doing an extreme porting job anyway, just wanted something to kill some time... ive noticed that the ports arent always matched with the manifolds, if if i like mark them up and grind to match and smoothen it all the way till the valve seats will i be able to improve the smoothness on the engine?? i dont intend to get 500hp from this engine anyway smooth delivery of power is what im looking for (off the red lights mainly) and if i can gain a few hp's in the process why not??

so here's the current plan;
clean/scrub the head block and manifolds thoroughly (the engine has 160,000 km's on it)
port match and polish the intake and exhaust (replace gaskets if needed)
face the cylinder head a bit to increase compression (how much should i do this and will it have adverse effects)
remove the air resonators from the intake system (dont see the harm other than less intake restriction)
pop in a k&n or simota replacement filter

think i can add anything to the above or will it work like a charm?
p.s im not looking for the whole "wannabe racer" sound, i want something that's decent but stands out from other santros...
