D.I.Y 2000 Honda civic Cluster Cleaning

AOA,
Yesterday me did a D.I.Y of 2000 honda civic speedometer (Cluster) as it gets to much Dusty:D

Why these connectors are factory taped? i think this for maintenance light & SRS light

Too much dirt here


after washing for surf & vim & wd 40

sorry for rpm needle base as it not clean so much

anyone know how to install led,s in this cluster without modification

Is it me, or you did not wipe off the excess product from the cluster. If the latter, a bad move then. It would get dirty more quickly.

Hi there, No you can't add them without modification... You'd have to change the bulbs to the LEDs from the radio shack of the desired colors, then the needles too, with a small hole for the LED for illuminated Needles and yeah that's pretty much it.
And its more likely for a newbie to disturb the gauges and in my case, i actually saw smoke coming out of it when i did it , then had to go to a kabariya and bought one to replace the burnt one.

looking great but do not install led lights they look cheap and it is not comfortable when u are driving at night as it diverts the attention of the driver,I'd say not a good idea.

Good DIY

Installing LEDs behind the cluster will make it too bright. Newer cars have dimmer circuits that automatically dim the gauge cluster lights for night time driving.

What you can do instead is replace the two bulbs above the cluster with LEDs, that will improve visibility at night.

one more thing, EK cluster has spot light on the top of the cluster, put UV LED in it, and paint the needles with party paint/ glow paint. available in red, green blue, pink, then see the magic
