D.I.Y Engine compression test

I was not satisfied with the pick of my car in lower gears (d15b carbuerator) both in petrol and cng so i decided to check the engine compression first before taking it to mechanics and let them do hit and trial wasting my money and time. I searched on net and found a good quality compression tester with accessories in karachi. I called on the given number and asked for the price of compression tester and T-handle magnetic spark plug socket. I transfered the money to his account and within 3 days i recieved my package in peshawar through speedex.next day i removed all spark plugs using T-handle magnetic socket and checked all cylinders compression when engine was fully warmed up (recommended).the results were
Cylinder 1=200psi
Cylinder2=195psi
Cylinder3=190psi
Cylinder4=195psi
showing that engine is in good condition.if you are going for an engine swap then this device can be extremely useful.

the compression tester is not available with digital meter(electronics)?

Thanks brother.i think it will be very difficult to find digital compression tester here because of its high price.after a long search i was able to find only this compression tester.

For checking the compression the engine must be fully warmed up (recommended).then turn off the engine and remove all spark plugs from engine.connect tester to 1st cylinder and tell ur friend or somebody else to crank the car for at least 10-15 rev.read the maximum pressure on gauge and then press the safety release valve on gauge to release the high pressure before removing.repeat the same process for remaining cylinders.

All good but my friend had a bad experience with toptul compression tester which went bad after testing only a few cars. He now uses a chinese compression tester which is cheaper but just as accurate.

Is any compression tester available to check compression without starting the car or you can say to check compression of engine before buying the engine?

hmm, you can spin the engine starter motor with a battery

As said by margallr, connect the starter motor with a battery to move the pistons and check the pressure of each cylinder.
