AOA
Hope you guys are doing great.I thought i might share this simple DIY project to help fellow members.
Background
I bought a used honda city 2014 few months back.I noticed a strong screeching noise when ever i turned on the AC.
Noise was constant and coming from engine bay.No change i noise level with RPM.
Later on i noticed that the noise is coming when ever Radiator Fan kicks in.
so the noise was coming from the radiator fan motor(fan which is present on the battery side of radiator)
i decided to replace the fan motor my self.
Finding the fan motor
i searched the motor in Bilal Gunj. Fortunately i found one in very good condition in Rs 2000/-.
Tools
Flat head screw driver
Philips Head screw Driver
10mm Socket
8mm Socket
Ratchet/Rod
Plier
WD-40
Degreaser
Rag/Old T shirt
Project
I disconnected the battery terminals,Coolant expansion bottle cap,Radiator fan wire and a small braket of wires on the shroud.
There are 2 10mm bolts holding the shroud to the radiators.Just below the upper radiator core support.
Unscrew those and pull the shroud up to remove it from the brackets in the bottom.
and than slide it infront of the other fan and pull it out of the engine bay.
I removed the fan from the motor by unscrewing the 8mm bolt.Removed the motor from the shroud by unscrewing the Philips head screws.cleaned the shroud with degreaser.
i assembled the whole fan and shroud again.
fixed it back in the engine bay in reverse.
checked the fan
it Worked
