@palay... dats cool...so a gtti's bay has enough room for any d/b series engine?.... the only drawback being it may become too nose heavy depending on the weight of the particular engine....but they all fit without cutting chopping?

wel i think go for hmmm ju dill karay yaar , coz i dntthink engine make any difference , d15b and d16z6 both are similar , its depend on driver , if d15b is so powerfull becoz know one tested the d16z6 yet , coz every one want to sav his money and time so go for easy swap , recomanded by others ............

if any one say d15b is powerfull so go and chk youtube for d16 vs d15 lots of videos which can confuse u ..........

well i m using d16z6 and i m very happy from it , i beat 1.8 vvti on 17z ,i dnt have video so i can upload ...........

but on the other hand i lost from 7a ( toyota engine )

dat time i m new to this vtec thing ....... my car is not tuned , vtec is off , o2 sensor is missing , stock piping , and on 15 rims , axiels are making tak tak awazay , and important is i m new to drag that time its funny but i raced coz i love racing ,

and 7a ( toyota ) was on stock rims , head shaved and on high octane ............... still i compete but on 3rd gear he won .......... and he is the well know driver

and after some day palay beat him with his d15b ........

now a days i m busy in my examz , i hav all the stuff but no time to modfy it , soon INSALLAH I LL UPLOAD MY VIDEO

so dnt get confuse bro and do wat u wanted to do ..........
and tell ur friend keep extra 20k for tak tuk kharchay coz engine is not only the thing ...................

@GT500.. do u honestly think that b18 and d15b are in the same price range....there is a huge difference dude....and the guy is on a budget so hence the whole topic

@ palay yeah i think i have seen the h22 charade pics its crazy :P.... so it really can have nethign spcae wise....

@ampalla.... u dont need to be sorry dude...appreciate ur views... and yes ur right there is not a huge difference between the two .... i guess d15b is more economical....responds well to mods...and can find some good pieces in the market i guess...

get the d15b,one of a guy had this in his city 2001,he got cams gears,I/H.E,high compression pistons and 6puck,and he used to beat b16s evryday haha

Stage 1: One intake valve opens on low-lift, short-duration cam lobes to improve charge flow speed, combustion stability, low-rpm torque and reduce emissions.

Stage 2: Both intake valves open on low-lift, short-duration cam lobes to allow the engine to "breathe" better at higher RPM.

Stage 3: Both intake valves open on high-lift, long-duration cam lobes to allow minimum resistance to air flow during high-RPM operation into cylinders thus providing high torque (and thus power) at high RPM.

when i put the sports mode on it just keeps on reving all the way to 7000 RPM and then vrrrrrrrrrroooooooooommmmm

and fuel economy is really good better than my other hatch and city with AC

really old post but i thought i'd ask anyways...

i recently had my paki '99 civic's (vti oriel A/T) engine swapped with a D15B 3-stage. The mech said he didnt need to change the ecu cuz everything fit on the old harnesses etc. however, he replaced the dual vtec solenoids with the single solenoid from my old engine and also did not connect the O2 sensor.

The problem i m facing now is that the car revs at high RPM but the car feels like it lacks the power it used to have.

can anyone help? maybe a few pointers on what needs to be changed or amended? thanks!

The only sensor difference is Knock sensor... D15B dont have it. So the connector u might be seeing without any sensor is Knock sensor not the O2.

About the power difference Im sure its the ECU difference. D16 uses p2m where as d15 uses p2j.

the O2 found on the manifold is missing... plus the mech said he removed it cuz the ECU doesnt cater to it. will look into changing the ecu.

I am however wondering what he would have had to do to keep the old vtec single solenoid setup? since the engine i bought was complete (just took off the ecu and transmission)

could a faulty gear also be a cause for loss in power? the car seems to pick up really hard when it hits third gear... before that... the RPM can go up to 5K and it still wont be doing much. dunno much about cars but the old engine felt stronger and smoother than this one.

^did you changed the transmission aswell? can you tell gearbox code you're currently running (it should read something like S20-a0000 or S40-a0000), wrong transmission can cause power problem.

For ecu, p2j is for dual-vtec d15b and p08 is for single-vtec d15b

I'm unable to understand why your mechanic has replaced default dual-vtec solenoids with single-vtec solenoid, any special reason for that?
I'm not sure that now either p2j will work or p08, after your mechanic's fankari

regarding disconnected o2 sensor, it won't cause power loss
the reason your mech is not connecting o2 sensors seems to be that headers are not replaced. Ask your mech to put 4-2-1 headers that came with your d15b engine and then put the o2 sensor plug aswell
(don't pay extra for this, both things come with engine)

didnt change the transmission... using the original... but its faulty... I experience rather sharp jerks when shifting gears.

i made the mistake of not checking up on my mech when he was replacing the engine. the header cover is on so i cant see if he changed the header. but the old header/cover didnt have room for an O2 sensor and this one does so i dunno. will ask him.

what i m dreading is that he doesnt have the components (headers/dual vtec/o2 sensor) anymore... which would mean i'd have to spend to get those back.
