Thanks to all for good wishes. I have a couple of questions here (btw its gonna be my 1st experience of probable overhaul (last experience was replacing old engine with new one, Diesel 2C, 6 yrs back in my dad's Corona Mark-I which proved to be very very nice while an overhaul before was not much good.

a. How about engine replacement with Stock Kabli. OR whats the possibility that I will have to spend more on the new/Kabli to replace something. Mechanics expect that for the overhaul it can go anywhere from 18,000~33,000/-(Total incl labour charges). While I checked the kabli is available in 28,000~30,000+2500 as Labour Charges+maybe something else not known yet) from Ahata Mitho Khan and Glass Factory Chah-e-Sultan Rawalpindi. They give a 15 days warranty of replacement in case of oil decrease or Blow etc (I really am not sure that 15 days will be enough).

b. ASAD_SCORPIO21 to pl share about his level of expectations/satisfaction now since some time has passed. Did u achieve the goals like smooth, noiseless running with no heatups or even lil oil decrease (I mean the feel of a new car engine :). I am asking this 'coz my previous experience of a diesel Kabli really gives you that feeeeeeel of a new engine........Does a complete overhaul can provide this and can it guarantee 100,000 km further etc. Aslo assuming the engine has been overhauled once before as well like 4/5 years.

c. I also have to get the classic brakes issue resolved as I am still on stock brakes. Which company servo/master cylinder assembly is recommended. Should I go separately to 'Sultan ka khoo' to some Servo seller/fitter or get it done from Daewoo's mechanic????

Guys especially the experienced and more active members like TESTDRIVER, SHAH73, ASAD_SCARPIO21 and Sheikh_Wah to comment para wise. Your experience would help me have a clarity of mind and take a confident decision as the D-Day is near. Thanks!!!!

a) I may not prefer the kabli one, because we can not be sure about its inner condition and it will also lead to change of engine no on the car papers, again anotehr hassle. I faced teh same issue and i decided to get the engine oevrhauled myself and thsi experience Alhamdilillah has proven to be very good. It was overhauled 1.5 ytears back and engine is [performing much better within city and on the long routes upto Sadiqabad and Rahim Yar khan with full time AC. You can imagine its performance the overhauled engine that it consumed about Rs 2000 CNG with AC from lahore to Sadiqabad.

Main benefit of engine overhaul is that i know that what is and what not in my car engine.
My total cost on engine overhaul was about 25K approx.

b) I changed the brake servo of my car with the Imported Toyota servo, changed the rear and front brake discs, full service of brakes and grinded the front brake rotors............... and now the brake is MashaAllah very very smooth and grippy. Servo was of RS 1700.

i m facing a problem during drive . i started AC in my car recently . but now my car creating problem during drive that some time pick increase and some time off during drive.. i went to mechanic but, all you know mechanics always makes money ... and orange light is blink on screen. pls guide me about it . it situation came during drive. when i started ac totally car off

Its a sensor related issued, testdriver better to respond. There might be problem in VSS or IAC valve.

2. Daewoo have greater engine noise in cabin than other counterparts due to resonator-less setup. Still if you feel that the noise is too much, do as following:

a. Get your car checked for the presence of insulator foam beneath driver and passenger floor.

b. Get the firewall insulation checked for any open holes.

c. Ask the mechanic to verify that the engine foundations are intact, and are not the cheap ones in terms of quality.

Thanks for recommendation, today my ride is with Tahir for suspension, AC Gas charging and other minor jobs, let see how remain his expertise and my experience.

Its a sensor related issued, testdriver better to respond. There might be problem in VSS or IAC valve.

The problem seems to be with the A/C signal switch installed on the back side of the A/C compressor. The ECM is not getting the "A/C ON" signal and as a result it could not control the spark timing and idling during A/C operation.

Any idea about the price of doors of Ceilo fitted with power windows? Is it ok to buy between 25K to 30K? Also I came to know about replacement of Daewoo Racer engine with XLi engine. What are your views about this replacement?

r u discussing for complete doors or only door panals coz i checked market for kabli ceilo door panals only (power windows) a year ago , price was 22k to 25k.
if daewoo's stock engine (1.5 ltr, SOHC , 8 valve) is capable to give you cng/petrol consumption better than XLi (1.3 Ltr engine) than why r you going for xli engine?

Guys i have found original racers power windows... the buttons are not to be installed at the doors all the 4 windows up/down buttons have to be installed in the center console behind the handbrake.. i.e b/w the hollow square area.. so all the 4 passengers can have access to the buttons..
Guys what do you say should i go for it..

you can also get fitted only racer's power windows motors and installed toyota surf controlling buttons on your existing door panals , i am also having a experience of it.

i got overhauled in july last year from Mian Khan , engine is still smooth and noiseless , there is no startup or heat up issues , in morning observing water drops from silencer. great pick and consumption, and my car is daily runner without rest. so i am fully satisfied with Mian Khan's work.

Thanks for replying, hmm requirements are:

1- Islamabad registered,
2- need to use it as daily runner so it should be trouble free
3- must not required immediate expense
4- all instruments/buttons must be in working condition
5- 1993 (new dashboard) & 1998+ registration
6- budget depend upon the condition

looks like a lot of requirement but I used to keep daewoos in past and I found there is nothing like having a troublesome daewoo. so this time want to have really nice and trouble free woo.

Its encouraging to know about Asad_Scorpio21's engine overhaul results, my ride will be completed in a day or two IA. I will share my experience on the forum soon. Meanwhile I have few questions here:

a. How much running did you do as my mechanic calls for 1,000 km?
b. Running to be completed strictly on Petrol or CNG?
c. The mechanic suggests to remove Thermostat Valve and also make the fan direct during running, what about you? Also after the running he agrees to put in thermostat valve if I desire but wants the fan to remain direct since summers have come?

My main seal got leaked twice in the last two months, so i took it to Mian khan and he told me that there is some pl'ay in the crank that is crank is having rotational plus to and fro motion at the same tym, which is causing the seal to leak again and again!!!

I have now left the vehicle at MOON's place for the crank work, will get the vehicle back tomorow, I hope the problem will get fixed, i ll update u guys with the result!!

1000 km is better for running and then you have to change engine oil and filter. you can drive your car on both petrol/cng (50/50) , as i got overhauled in july (very hot ) so radiator fan was direct coz i was very careful for any heatup issue.
