Hello everyone! I am the proud owner of a 1993 Daewoo Racer 1.5. The vehicle in itself is amazing and I have no complaints. However there are a few current day issues. Allow me to explain.
Since this car is a 93 model, there is no OBD2 port. There is an OBD1 port but everyone knows they're useless. There is no way to scan the cars ECU for any internal problems that may be hidden to the naked eye. I've been to several self proclaimed "Daewoo Masters" across Islamabad and Rawalpindi but alas was still disappointed.
The vehicles fuel average is horrible (7-8 km/l in city) and this causes me much distress. The car has an extensively thorough service history with regular servicing. Sparks plugs, fuel filters , etc. All parts that require regular renewal have been tended to, but still whenever I take it to any mechanic, all they do is turn the screw on the left of the engine bay that supposedly has something to do with fuel consumption (if you know what that part is called please do let me know). Every mechanic changes it to whatever they think is right and say " sir ab set ho gae hai".
If anyone here has any genuine tips regarding increasing daewoo's fuel economy, please do let me know. But what is of much more importance is if anyone can direct me to a true daewoo master mechanic that is actually certified by some authority (preferably Daewoo themselves).
Thank you for your time Gentlemen!
