SALLAM:
last wekeknd i was able to complete Dagri Bangla Hike thankx to @asim.shah for arranging such a memorable trek.... it was a two day trip involving a night camp at Dagri Bangla...
Asim along with Zain and Dilawar picked me on saturday morning coming from Lahore and onto Nathiagali..... reached Nathiagali at around 8.30 am and had breakfast. Zain took a nap as well as he had been driving all night. meanwhile the others made arrangements of BBQ and got supplies from main bazaar. as this was an emergency trip (business as usual) we had to pic up main suppplies from nathiagali... also as there is no water avilable on trek we had to carry 5-6 liters of water per person.....
well after this we reached starting point of Miranjani Peak hike at around 11 am....
Discraceful attitude of locals:
well one of the main demotivating factors for me in hiking in Gilyat region and murree is the attitude of the locals.... sorry if someone here belongs to that region but i must say that the ppl who r into touism business are very unreliable and not trustworthy at all.... we initailly wanted a porter for our trek as we had a lot of luggage.... but ppl were asking for 8K and 5K for this trek and wudnt carry any luggage as well so we decided to move on by ourselves.....also later when we tried to negotiate animal transport with them they never stood by their word and asked for unreasonable prices... when we said we are going on our own whey started damning us and saying that ull never make it and something will happen to u guyz...
The Hike:
although i had never regarded this trek as a very difficult one it is by no means an easy walk in the park especially with luggage. the initial ascend to miranjani peak is tuf and considering we had limited water and extra luggage (we were cayying camp, water, meat and BBQ equipment in addition to daypack stuff and normal meal items) it was a reasonably tuf 2 hour hike to the top. here we rested for some time and then descended towards the Dagri trek.... this section of the hike was long and through dense forest where we hardly met any local even. no hiker as there.... it took us aproximately 4 hours to reach dagri bangla. we had started at 11.30 am and reached at 5.30 pm just at sunset...... the return journey as similar altough we had lost a lot of luggage but we descended accedentally through Chota Gali which was longer but at a lesser gradient. our return journey started at 9.30 am and we reached car park at 4 pm...the total ditance covered was aproximately 35 kilometers in two days hiking... this hike requires some stamina and motivation. on our way back there was also a small water spring but most of the water we used on the trip was that which we had initially carried with us...
The Prize:
in beteen this khajal khawari there was a memorable night at Dagri bangla with nobody around for miles and fun filled BBQ and music... it was quite an adventure.... i had not excpeted the night to go this way but good company made trhat possible.... early morning aslo the breakfast was fun and coffee was special... another mentionable point is that we saw a lot of usable items in the ruined kitchen of Bangla left over by previous visitors and we found many of the items to be of our use so in turn we also left our extra coal and cooking items there for future visitor's use. this inculcates a good traveling culture which i have experienced abroad but not in pakistan b4.
@asim.shah plz share ur amazing pics here and any info that i have missed.... to begin with i will share a pic that asim took of me hahahahahah
