Dashboard carpet/mat

Assalam Alaikum
I have bought a dashboard mat for my Altis 2005 but I am confused as one of my friend told me that It rubs againt dash and removes its color and not so much effective in blocking sunlight as it is also black... Pw's share your experiences

You can use some sort of double tape to avoid rubbing...

In my opinion, no real need of this carpet. Top of uncovered dashboard is easy to clean and withstands the sunlight well. This carpet will attract dust and absorb heat from the sunlight. And it serves no real function.

Agreed with Mehran. The real effective one's come in beige color with wool like soft material and they reflect sun uv rays where as black color will absorbe sun rays and make your dash board more hot than normal. Secondly its made of carpet type material which will damage the top coating of dash board and dirt will trap between cover and dast board.

If you wanna ruin your dashboard than go ahead. Otherwise, protect it with good dressings like carpro perl or nanoskin multidress. This will leave permanent residues under heat which won't be cleaned easily. Also, when you'll remove double tape in future it will leave permanent mark behind due to heat. Whole car can survive in heat, just use good wax on body, and good dressing on interior.

What do you mean by dashboard dressing?? Is it dashboard polish which usually comes in sachet or some in spray and its a milky liquid with rose like smell and it shines the dash for sometime

Interior dressings are quite different from luster used by taxi drivers. They come in concentrated form, and you have to dilute them with water to get either a shiny or a matte look. For God sake this is professional detailing stuff I'm recommending to you, and not some 10 rupaye wala luster sachet. You would need two things:
All purpose cleaner: chemical guys citrus all clean or carpro multi X. It is for cleaning and removing all dust from interior.
Dressing: carpro perl or nanoskin multidress. It is applied after cleaning.

@mohsin-212 bhai. @haseeb.basharat sir meant by meguiars or any other brand interior protection product. something like MEGUIAR'S ULTIMATE INTERIOR DETAILER or any other brand.

the white sacher you are talking about or the 7CF spray are only oily and give temporary shine and later attract dust.

A good product will cost you a bit more but ultimately will save you money for future maintenance.

In Pakistan for average income people, Purpose of such dashboard carpets are usually:
1. Save dashboard from Color Fading
2. To act as insulator to block heat,and keep car dash less hot so that A/C can work little better
3. Prevent dashboard cracks created due to sunlight
Liana has very delicate dashboard and it cracks frequently. U can observe yourself
Cultus, Alto and Santro dashboards get color faded too much. U will see most of them.

Truly speaking, I also cannot afford high cost branded interior dressings so I can suggest you:

1. Use Light color Towels like white, off white, Light beige, cream color etc. because dark color absorbs more heat
2. Use Light color Big Towels or Light color Big Turkish Jainamaz and just cover by putting them on dasboards(Before that use dashboard polish which prevents it from being dried)
3. Put Jainamaz/Towels on both front and rear dashboards.

These are economical and Less time consuming doable.
If u can afford financially then u can adopt methods explained above by other members and their recommended products
