Dashboard paint coming off in a zero meter Honda City

Salam,
Today I would like to share the pathetic customer support of Honda shahrah-e-faisal. Only 2000kms driven Honda City and its dashboard paint is beginning to come off. I have claimed warranty and Honda has only stalled, their representative took pictures and ACKNOWLEDGED this problem saying it will be forwarded to Honda Atlas and then resolved in a week. It has now been almost a month since there is no reply.

I seek advice from all members how this problem can be raised up and resolved. The car is parked with a parachute cover on top when not in use and is company maintained.

How can dashboard paint of a 0 meter car peel off like that? I have a 14 years old Honda Civic and its dashboard paint looks brand new.

It looks to me that Honda shahrah-e-faisal had sold a used car. Another reason may be harsh chemicals applied during routine maintenance that resulted in peeling of paint.

I suggest you buy a dashboard cover as this looks unsightly.

14 years ago quality was different. Today quality is ten times worse than it used to be.

Honda civic dashboard is not painted, it is for Honda City that they paint the dashboard.

They will be repainting the entire dashboard and yes you are right the quality was better in the past. Our 2004 Honda City is very well built by Honda and never faced a problem like this in the past

Wouldn't dashboard cover remove the paint even further?
Which dashboard cover should I get as the previous one only made these marks worse. It was one which had rubber grip on one side and soft velvet like fabric on the other

I recommend standard cover available on PW Store. The cover is made of a soft carpet material. But a cover is not recommended on a newly painted dashboard as I presume Honda will repaint your car's dashboard.

The paint will come off if rubbed aggressively with an apc or other harsh cleaning solution. I have heard in PW forum that it is common with Honda City and other cars with painted dashboard.

You should use a dashboard cover in the future when the warranty is up as Honda charges about Rs. 6000 to repaint the dashboard.

Opposite in the past , the dashboard in my 2004 City comes with the same colour and has not faded even after 17 years (no dashboard cover).

Honda has followed up on my complaint and the car has been sent for a dashboard repaint and polishing under warranty. Will share pictures of the dashboard after the car is received.

I would like to commend their complaint handler for the prompt response, they had asked me the name of the adviser who delayed this process and took action.
