Day trip from lahore to Islamabad

Hi there..I want to make a day trip from lahore to Islamabad..Which car is suitable and which is the best route i have suzuki swift cn it make a day trip..Any suggestions?

If you can drive and the car is road worthy it can be done.

You will find some champions who can do Islamabad to Bhawalpur in less than 8 hours. So it depends all on your capability and vehicle you are using.

If you're talking about swift 88-90 model, then you'll have to check the condition of the car before leaving. Both motorway and GT road are good. But your swift (if older one with weak engine etc.) may have a tough time climbing on Kallar Kahar (Motorway) or Sohawa (GT road).

I have done Islamabad-Lahore-Islamabad the same day, couple of times on my Nissan. Also went to Lahore on Khyber 91 and came back the next day without any problems.

I've done faisalabad- Islamabad - faisalabad in 8 hours, so you shouldn't face an issue. Just drive at 90km/h if you're not in a hurry and enjoy the scenes.

don't worry, keep 130 in mind. that's the rescue contact number on motorway and you will be fine.

@atroo786 thats not a big deal provided u love to drive.. I hv once made a round trip from Lahore to Islamabad in 9 and half hours.. Entered motorway at 7 PM. Reached Monal at Pir Sohawa 11 PM.. Had coffee at Gloria Jeans G-10 i guess and left Islamabad at 12:45 Reached Lahore 4:30 AM.. Car was 9th gen Honda Civic Oriel Prosmatec only 1000 km driven then..That was a crazy flash tour but interesting.. I suggest motorway..Dont like GT Road,, driving on GT road gives mental exhausation

Keeping in view current political situation, leisure travelling anywhere especially islamabad not suggested till 20th August

It's possible. I went to Islamabad with my dad in september 2013. We left at 11 a.m. And reached Islamabad (Blue area, Kulsoom Hospital) at 3:40 P.M. We stayed there till 9:15 and left for Lahore at 9:30 P.M. Drove at 110 KM/H constant. Reached Lahore at 4 A.M as we stopped after every 30-45 mins to have tea. The car was a Suzuki Liana. I had nothing done. Just had all the fluid levels checked, air filled at 31 PSi, fuel topped up with some Hi-Octane and left. The car went like a charm though we had expected some trouble since the car's cooling system had minor issues.

i did that on my mehran that too on gt road i mean come on man if you have 2 drivers you can do isb-multan-isb in 24 hours

In normal days it is possible from gt road 6-7 hrs one way trip and from motorway its 3hrs if petrol car.
Since we are doing timing stuff I have done lahore - Newshera - lahore in around 10hrs.

Since we are doing timing stuff I have done lahore - Newshera - lahore in around 10hrs.

isb-lhr on g.t road is 4.5hr travel(that too maximum) while staying within speed limits,it is 320 km from city center to city center

There are too many toll booths and it gets real crowded at times
