Molana sahab's followers had a fight with the delivery guy, things were held up for so long. The car has been at the workshop for 2 weeks, because I was told it's almost here, will be here in a day.
Today the mechanic called that the engine has reached the kabari, will know for sure in the morning

He has booked his shipment through some courier company, and I am getting the information through a 4th source, so I am certain that a game of Chinese wisper is definitely taking place

So long over due, it never rains but pours with this God forsaken vehicle.
The stuff is caught up between the transporting company and the kabari, the kabari had had an accident and was in bed rest for quite some time.
When he finally returned, he got me an engine from someone and said that this would work well.
I asked the mechanic to thoroughly check before installing, upon rotation via the hand, we came to know that it gets stuck at a particular point.
So that's out.
Now I have sourced a civil engine, unopened for 40k, I will assess its situation tomorrow, and then decide what to ultimately do. I am getting tired of this crap, so I think I will have to go for an overhaul. Will surely call the numbers provided by capsat for parts inquiry.
If anyone has better ideas, I am all ears.
PS can I shove in a 300D non cdi engine in it instead? What what would need to change, talking about the 300td coming from the 97 w210

To do the e300td turbo swap, mechanically you will need the engine with wiring, trans, d shaft, ecu and tcu, shifter, radiator, its shroud, ac compressor, discharge and supply line for compressor, intercooler piping connections, steering hydraulic pressure pipe and also the metal return pipe for it, trans cooler lines, front springs, condenser fan twin setup and then someone to write the ecu to the cars chassis and eis (if you bought a keyfob car swap engine) the old das system wont be compatible.

Your dilemma is why I advocated for overhaul in the first place.

So this basically means an entire halfcut would be needed. I would much rather take my chances with the overhaul then.
I didn't opt for it before because my actual engine was not in a state to be overhauled, atleast that's what everyone said. Will open it up to see its actual state and then of the new civil one, will compare and contrast for the decision as to which to actually work on.
My mechanic says that if an engine's crank breaks, the block goes out of line and it is then useless to try and overhaul that... Whereas I don't buy it, but since overhaul was in the back end, didn't really care... Now though it's a different scenario

Benz diesels are very tough engines, if you are able to literally break the crank, you deserve a passing salute from a whole battalion.

Yes, if the block is fractured, dont overhaul that block, find a replacement one. You will be quite surprised to see that the lower rotating assembly is usually tip top or at max require bearings etc.

Take extra care to read the service manual atleast 3 times with a cup of tea to understand it, benz manuals are written quite cryptic and are usually this way to address professional repair people.

If a place says to use torque ratchet, do not andaaza it, if it tells to measure something, actually measure it rather than andaaza and eyeing it.

This is the exact reason why I want to avoid the overhaul, but I am gonna scout around to see if I can find someone who has precision tools and a manual, because frankly, I am certain that I won't be able to take out time to make the mechanic do everything as per the book.
This guy is very thorough with his work, but again, precision is an entirely different ballgame.
He recently overhauled a friend's w108 280se. Took him a decent month or two to complete it, but the owner is highly satisfied with the results....

@dayrider if & when you finally decide to tear it down for overhaul.

and when it is in bits & pieces machinsit give you parts list, make another list of extra parts with vehicle vin number. Fly out to Sharjah motorparts market in Industrial area. source all parts, carry those back. get machining done assemble it in your presence, rather be part of assembling process.

if round trip & parts costs you 200-230000 the peace of mind for OEM parts will be worth all pain. am no one to judge your approach to fix mercedes engine but i can see your profound interest to put it back on road. It is just a suggestion which i practically did for my corolla engine rebuild.
