Dec-2017 One week trip up north

Hi everyone,

I have been lurking on the forum for quite some time, reading various trip reports. The threads contain alot of information but I was hoping to get answers to a few specific questions.

I am planning to land in islamabad on 20-21 Dec 2017 which will be my starting point. I have never myself travelled up north before therefore a total noob! I am from Karachi.

Q1) I have a non-pakistani friend (female) accompanying me. How safe is it to travel up north for a foreigner?
Q2) I keep on hearing that some of the roads are closed due to the weather. while I do not plan to travel to the extreme remote areas, could you advise if this is true?
Q3) I want to travel for 4-5 days around the region. What places would you suggest that I can cover in such period?
Q4) We will be 4-6 people, looking to go to places that are safe for family (no children)

Hi,
1. Complete the paper work for the foreigner and u will have no issues.
2. You can go till Hunza , attabad lake etc and skardu , shangrilla, sadpara lake in winters. In short you can cover good spots even in winter but there's too cold those days
3. You can cover Hunza, Naltar, Nagar valleys
4. No safety issues there
