I have recently crossed babusar pass.And the road condition is quite bad.I wonder how u managed to keep ur bottoms at & in one place while crossing it..:),especially the ascend just before chilas.Plz share more pics.

oh yes! the trip has proved that point to quite a few people already...im sure this thread will change a few opinions...and i keep saying...its the weakest bug of all...not a 1600, not a 1500 or 1300 but a 1200 that made it...

a beetle was meant for every corner of the world - be it an African desert or the Pakistani mountains.

It would be a sight to see that after 40 years from now - a 40 year old mehran would not be in metal form and this (82 yrs) at that time beetle would still trek it

Day1...

we start off by packing her up an hour before dawn...we were unsure about how to place the luggage properly, so for 3 -4 days, on every stop we made, we kept moving it around till we got it to sit right and sit tight!

reminds me of my super bug 1302 - I used to drive it to other cities in Sindh - lol, my freinds were in their A/C cars and no one would sit with me because FOXY puraani hai aur is mein aag (fire) lag jatee hai aur iss mein A/C nahin hai. lol

And after the run - their backs would be sore because of the ill designed seats in their Mehran etc. while I was ache free.

First mishap, one of the bolts holding the roofrack together comes undone and disintegrates the rack...

A couple of mounting rubber pads decide to go hide cuz the heat wasnt bad enough already

We obviously being smarter than mere rubber pads find them, tighten the bolts and VOILA!!

back on the road!!

theres something about an aircooled bug loaded with luggage that defines its true charecter. Just like when you see a W124 diesel towing something equally large as itself on the highway.

The interior soon starts to look like a guys bedroom, of course, for 11 days, it was one belonging to 4!

Glad we prepared, cuz that is some serious weather!!

an early stop at besham instead of chilas due to pretty damn intense hail! we decide we like our car and stop at ptdc besham for the night
