That night, we played more with the engine...refusing to give up on her...determined to make it work...
we had covered over 800 km by now...giving up was not an option...or so we hoped...
4 hours or so into the struggle...we got little result...adjusted the fuel mixture, adjusted the air flow,tweaked timing endlessly, removed the air filter altogether...somehow, just give her more oxygen to breathe!!! we had of course... Khalid Sahab from Allahbad Rawalpindi on the phone line with us...well almost...we went to a special spot and stood on one leg while another person placed his hand on my head and stood like an egyptian painting so we would get some signal...in the desperate 15 or so calls i made to khalid sahab, and the poor signal quality, we just got to confirm if waht we were doing was right...he was a great help here though in telling us just how to retune the timing to the default setting if we ruined it...he also told us how to open the carb and fix it if need be...our guide there was therefore khalid sahab, our own twisted minds and ofcourse, the idiots guide to the VW beetle...a book by john muir... having achieved little however...we eventually gave up...
