Hmmm, but this is what it is . Army has no other option but resort to such steps as there is no other way to detect an explosive laden vehicle. People are now ok with this 
Regarding the river side yes firstly it was closed for public but now it is open. The only restriction is that you cant move inside the cantt to visit the river side but u have to use a longer route of Bannu bus Stand or Road along the St. Helens school and now people are used to it.
