Dereased fuel average after cleaning of spak pllugs,throttle body and sensors cleaning. Engine stops frequently

I have GLI 2010. After cleaninng of sparks plugs,sensors and throttle body cleaning, fuel average is reduced. Also I feel reduuuced acceleration. 3 times I faced a problem in 2 weeks. I was onnnn the way in 2nd gear. I tried to accelerate, but speed was not inncreasig even after fully pressing the pedal. I moved the car a side,stopped for a minute to check connection. But all connections were ok. I started to drive again. Drive was ok but felt as not picking acceleration. On another day, enngine stopped when I was driving on the way. I moved aside of road,tightened all cables connections. Then started ignition, alll were ok then. Few days afterwards same hapenned again. Mechanic said may be tracker iissue. But tracker company said all is ok on their side. Suggestions and experience feedback is required please.

tell the loser mechanic why it started troubling only after your work? tracker was there even before you touched

surely he has tricked with some sensor cable / grip and left is lose in the plug ( appearing as connected but dislodged )

these bastard class do experiment at our cost and try to shift blame here & there., grab him by balls and get it fixed

Before this throttle body cleaning, was there any problem with your car?

Contrary to the popular belief strengthened by road side mechanics, throttle body cleaning or spark plug cleaning is not a routine maintenance item.

You should replace spark plugs (normal copper electrode plugs) routinely at or around 20 ~ 30k dependent upon your driving condition. Throttle body should be disturbed only if there is some fault or trouble.

For the current problem, in my opinion you have to do the whole process of so called tuning that you have done earlier once again.

Are you getting any DTC or engine check light?

Before this work everything was ok,good avg,good acceleration, no problem. Now after tuning ,throttle body cleaning, sensor cleaning, When i switch on or say ignition is on,then only door open light comes. No other check light in available.even meter reading, rpm,fuel guage all are at zero position. At normal situation, when only ignition is on(engine not started), all indications come,like check lights,fuel guage etc. But in my case only radiator fan is running. No other status is available.

There is wiring issue in your car caused by the mechanic.

Electrician said to change am2 fuse. I changed this. After changing engine started but after 30 seconds apx, engine stopped again. All check lights gone off immediately.

Can MAF sensor cause this problem?

What was your concern that you took your car for this repair service? By reading your post it seems like it was running good.

Very strange. Cant expect such a strange. As Every thing was after tuning, cleaning etc, so evey time mind stuck towards mechanic mistake. All the times called tracker company to check their system, but their reply was always " all is ok from our side". After checking all fuses,wiring etc, finally tried to check tracker. Engine stop problem is due to tracker. I was shocked tracker is malfunctioning. But still under observation regarding engine stoppage,avg etc. Now I called tracker company to disable tracker untill their technician comes to resolve the issue.

I come to conclusions if any problem comes and tracker is installed, always first disable tracker then check fuses,wiring,relays etc.

Yes car was running good. But I opted for preventive maintenance as per recommendations of user manual issues by toyota company. Plugs cleaning,throttle body cleaning etc was performed after number of kilometers vehicle has completed. This practice is recommended by Mostly mechanics if original filters are not used.

I have never seen any document claiming to clean throttle body on any EFI car. Its a job created by Pakistani mechanics only.

well. connect a scan tool to it, find the failure and rectify it.

it is like performing open heart surgrey for a person suffering from low blood pressure complaint - you mess up whole heart.

Other than throttle body cleaning what else is recommended by "toyota company"?

Brake service including grinding of discs? Putting a dab of grease on belts? Cleaning air filter housing with pressurized air and transporting all dirt into the throttle body? cleaning cabin filter with pressurized air? filling tap water in radiator reservoir? 20W-50 oil in brand new engines? installing sump bolts without washers or reusing the janiyan washer hundred times? Last but not the least cleaning engine with pressurized air or washing it with diesel?

And all these performed after number of kilometers as preventive maintenance???

For your further information, I have kept two xli's in last six years. Both these cars were used in the dustiest environment even by Pakistani standards. One driven more than 165,000 kms and sold and the other one which is with me right now and has covered around 140,000 kms; never on these two vehicles the throttle body cleaning was required or done.

Key is to replace/clean air filter on time (don't clean the housing with pressurized air) and use good quality petrol. That's all.

Engine stop problem is resolved because after tracing culprit was tracker. But average is decreased much after cleaning work of throttle body,plugs,sensors. Under observation yet.

This is exceptional case. Not wwritten in any doccument. When you buy a second hand car,whose owner have no record of any preventive maintenance, which company air filter he changed,after how much milage,etc, then most of mechanics recommend this practice. Otherwise company only recommends to change air filter.

Ehalin you are exactly right. But tell me what to do if u have purchased car at 95000kms,and previous car owner used pressurized air for filter cleaning after some thousands kms,changed filter only when totally clogged,never used genuine air filter? Actually you must do as user manual recommended, but we have to deviate if all practices performed by previous owner against user manual recommendations.

Brother See air cleaner filter inspection recommended by company after 20000 kms. Have you seen condition after 5000 kms? Any time have you changed filter after 20000 kms?
