Most new nissans with 3.5 litre and cvt have 3 cvt oil coolers, one sandwich on the trans, one aircooled from the cooler/warmer and one other one with a thermostat.

They still fail.

I believe that the physical 'first' gear was only introduced in the latest iteration of the cvt gearbox by Toyota. Previously they were selling plain old cvts and overall their record is probably much better than Nissan

They serve the purpose as far as returning good fuel economy is concerned.

But what good is the economy for if the CVT fails/malfunctions, cannot be repaired and has to be disposed off and then replaced with an equally malfunctioning unit from the scrap yard?

nissan is notorious for producing bad cvts , honda and toyota have been doing pretty good lately with cvts. For everyday usage upto compact sized suvs , cvt isnt too bad an option.

As long as they run more than the life of the car, it doesn't matter. Let's say, if I can run a transmission for 300k kms here in Pakistan, I would be okay with replacing it once. Toyota and Honda CVTs can easily do this much mileage. Even the kei boxes that come with CVT transmission from Japan do that much here. So, I would say serves the purpose.

I went to Naran on my Honda Steermatic which has CVT, absolutely no issues.

Anyway, this thread is going too off topic. Grande, Civic in pk are also cvt. Let me know when you found them struggling on climbing.

It's all about engine power n torque. Even 1L Vitz cvt, less than 90hp climbs mountains easily.

Now back to glory pro, which is facing a lot of delays in delivery.

Now, here is where the Glory 580 kind of struggles… the highway. The car is powered by turbo petrol, and as turbo engines go, the car is bound to experience a turbo lag every time your foot hits the throttle. The Glory 580 does pick up speed after the turbo has kicked in, especially when you have to get going from a single digit. The turbo takes so long to kick in that by the time you get the power to speed ahead, you are already approaching a turn where you’ll have to slow down anyway.

Where this turbo lag does it’s worse, is on the inclines. The Glory 580 will take you up an incline without breaking a sweat only if you are running on momentum. If you happen to slow down on the incline the car quickly loses torque and comes to a halt altogether. Getting a move on isn’t exactly easy either. The turbo lag is so long that the car goes completely out of breath as it barely picks up the speed it needs. Even veteran drivers will need aid from the ol’ trusty hand brake and will have to administer the clutch and gas pedal balance maneuver to come out on top. This becomes especially tedious, not to mention dangerous when there’s another vehicle honking behind you.Getting a move on without rolling back and bumping the car behind you???… The Glory 580 is the ultimate test of the hill hold margin you learned at driving school.

Why compare grand and civic ? both are 1800 cc cars. not many people afford or buy grande or civic. people usually go for 1000 or 1300 cc cars mostly because of fuel efficiency and low cost.

Certainly civic or grande won't have any problem climbing even with cvt. They are 1800 cc cars .

by the way when going to Naran about 3 years back from Kaghan, i found my car struggling quite a bit (1300 cc) corolla.

but when i looked in my back view mirror, i found new varieties of cars which were all having the same problem, even though the road did not have much of an incline, but problem at this point was of oxygen. this is specially much more in areas where you are hemmed in with mountains on both sides.

Surprisingly there is absolutely no problem going to Murree where i have been in khyber too with full load running on gas

DFSK hasn't come out openly saying that they have solved their problem. Most people nowadays go by word of mouth and this hill climbing problem; a lot of people know about it, as whoever i speak to knows about it.

This could be the reason of its low booking. Also the company at one time introduced a 7 seater in 1300 and 1500 cc engines. The car was good but did not have much advertising , and after sales. So this may be the reason why it flopped. Had it been available now, I would have considered it as i liked its design.

The company has to seriously work on its advertisement

Naran does not have much of an incline. The incline point is from Chilas to Babusar top, and not really much from Naran side.

so you have to actually check this point while coming from Chilas to Babusar will full load

Honda civic turbo gives 220 Nm @ 1700 RPM but glory 580 pro gives 220Nm Torque at 4000 RPMs, So it is under-powered than civic turbo?

I am going to visit the showroom and sit in glory and check its seating (last row specially).

Then I will make the decision (also after making sure that the hill climbing problem has been removed).

I already have BRV and other than its height which I believe should have been more, it is okay with lots of room

Civic Turbo has a curb weight of 1282kgs. Glory Pro is 1510kgs.

Went to the test drive event they put out in Lahore yesterday. The venue consisted of a small oval track on which the cars were being driven. Can't really say much about the cars after driving them for two laps of the track. What I can say is that I was very disappointed with the 1.8L variant. It took ages to do anything when you push the pedal. The transmission felt broken. The 1.5 turbo was decent. It moved and stopped alright on that small track. I drove it off the road a bit and suspension felt pretty smooth and supple. The brakes felt good at 70kph. Cabin was spacious and the quality was pretty good. Even the third row seats had ample head and leg room. There were no AC vents for the third row passengers which might be an issue in the summers. People were comparing it to Fortuner, which sounded idiotic to me. If it doesn't fall apart with time, I think it's a pretty decent proposition. Again this is based of off just 2 laps of that small track with both variants.
