Bhai don't take it personally, but Google Nissan cvt failures and you would be surprised at how bad the Jatco transmissions used by Nissan are...
Nissan is definitely not on top of the cvt game.

nissan cvts have issues because they were the first to persist with cvts. and yes thats a gamble, just like every chinese manufacturer now is going towards DCT. Nissan used their CVTs in all of their main segment sedans. Toyota and honda jumped later on the bandwagon when a lot of issues were resolved. TO cover that nissan offered a 10 year warranty on their transmissions in the US.
But the point is still that cvts are not a robust system like a normal AT or manual. They are a compromise for fuel efficency and are cheaper to produce than a regular AT.
main bura ku manoon ga, i said myself I had to replace mine. Toyota just introduced their cvts in corolla a few years ago and camry is still with regualr AT. nissan has been giving cvts on altimas and maximas since 2009.

Nissan had no other choice but to use Jatco CVT as they are literally married to it, Carlos Ghosn invested almost all of nissan into jatco in dreams of selling CVT as unit assembly to all other manufacturers, They initially did sell to some others like chrysler etc, but they quickly dropped it as warranty claims and brand repute was being tarnished.

The reason was that the CVT were failing faster than they could roll them off the assembly line. At first they claimed the oil to be lifetime too, which they later pulled back then further pulled back. They face a myriad of issues and have some really goofy designs internally.

Toyota have put an actual gear for the "takeoff" start to relieve the van doorne belt assembly from taking too much brunt. But it still is a weak transmission and is severely limited in its capacity.

one would think if the manual 1.5. T stopped on an incline, then just pressing the clutch and pressing the accelerator and taking the rpm to around 3800 , then the turbo would be up and running but still there was a problem in incline climbing,

I see that you love the smell of burnt clutch, LOL - 3800 rpm slipping launch on incline on a manual box,, it will smell of roasted clutch lining for a few hundred feet before it stops dead.

No such thing. you will definitely smell burning tyres though. this has happened with me while going to Naran, we had stopped on an incline turning and were inching forward and my corollas tyres were slipping. nothing wrong with the clutch but my tires were scuffed

Also another point . I also travelled from lahore to karachi and back in 18 hours.going and 20 hours coming back

my family was of the opinion that i would fall asleep if my car had an automatic gear.

2 years back on the motorway at night going to islamabad i saw that my car was running at 40. I was surprised and increased my speed to 100. Again i saw that my car was running at 50, and again i increased my speed on the third or 4th time i realized that i was sleeping and we then stopped at the next stop Bhera where i had coffee.

this may be a point for some people but not for all

True, in automatic people can sleep, but some in manual as well, as one of my friend is in habit of sleeping while driving, he twice hit his car badly on the footpath going towards N. Nazimabad.

On a highway or motorway, one is just as likely to go to sleep in manual as in auto. At those speeds the left foot would be free since you would be in the highest gear usually, and the monotony will be enough to push one to sleep if not properly rested.
And keep in mind, no matter how alert or mentally strong you think you are, you cannot stop from falling asleep by forcing yourself to stay awake, so always take breaks and have ample rest during such traveling.

I always tell people who go head over heels praising CVTs that if they were that good and sturdy all long haul trucks would have a CVT.

I would never trust the belt.

I think it's just plain ignorance. Many just don't know you can't keep your mind awake by brut force. It WILL shut down if you don't give it enough rest.

What people often forget when using this type of logic is that the purpose is different. The purpose of a CVT is to provide economy for daily driven, light weight vehicles, often being driven in cities with lots of traffic. They do that better than manuals/conventional automatics. The purpose of trucks is different, hence the comparison is not valid. CVTs are fuel efficient, easy to use, and provide good utility in daily use. Are they good for hauling heavy weights, no? But they serve their own purpose.

This makes a compounded problem, due to their inherent weak points, they fail rather early compared to stepshift automatics when subjected to similar load.

This is called bad product.

There is a school here that has the old gm trans testing machine, its to detect when an oil is failing, its basically an engine stand and its core test for dexron 3 is a 5.7 litre 300 hp v8 spinning a 4 spd automatic and going through 20,000 acceleration cycles.

Some guys put a nissan cvt and engine and did the 20k cyclic test, that thing was overheated under 10,000

I blv cvt cars are the best candidate for aftermarket oil coolers. After the first cvt failure i also changed cooler to an aftermarket hayden cooler. Car works much better anx no ossues since.
