you will have higher fuel intake with automatic transmission and some performance loss also, not too bad workable and would be perfect for traffic jams too (install an additional transmission cooler just in case)

what model transmission are you being offered?

The additional work needed to get it working is

1 pressure control cable bracket on injection pump
2 starter to be wired through neutral safety switch
3 reverse lamp to be wired through integrated neutral safety switch.
4 flex plate mounting on crankshaft
5 removal of pilot bearing from crankshaft (if so equipped)

correct mounting bracket for transmission.

Mate is the "Flex Plate" considered to be the replacement to the flywheel of the clutched version?

yes - it bolts to the crank and the torque convertor bolts to the flexplate. Make sure the bolts are in good shape.

A42D is 4 spd - the 4th gear is O/D

Sir g in normal city driving should O/D function should be on or off

Or question can be posted as when to turn O/D on and what benefits can be achieved by O/D function

O/D is overdrive

more output turns compared to input turns - aka 5th gear aka dabbal taap (double top) gear. Its job is to provide best economy as the car cruises on the road.

You can switch it off if you need the transmission not to shift into top gear - e.g. passing a car in urban traffic.

It sounds funny

That sound is due to the absence of any throttle plate. In better built engines like the mercedes benz OM606.910 and 912 you dont hear this sound unless you remove the huge and massive intake manifold. Its built to optimize engine torque and silence the air induction too.

Your 2C diesel has a simple log shaped intake manifold with no heed given to intake runner length or resonance silencing etc.

Thanks alot sir but I have read alot about it on net most people say not to use it city traffic as it requires alot of breaking and this puts negative impact on O/D.
Is this theory correct as I always keep O/D on.

Sorry for hijacking. Since in my car there are gears till d4. Should I drive car ind3 OR D4 SOME one said only use d4 on motorway .

Also if I am goind at 80 km speed and let ho the throttle then rpm instantly comes down to 1 k. But in d 3 I guess it comes slowly like transmission driving engine.

Second thing what gear to use going down hill

in D4 the freewheel clutch works, while in D3 the engine braking is felt as there is no freewheel engagement. In normal condition I just stick it in D4 and let it drive.

The 1C valve cover is quite different than the 2C diesel valve cover. Unless you find the old corona taxi version of it.

Since you are expert, what do you suggest, should I have a second opinion? Or go for overhaul or engine replace?

For engine replace, should I go for same engine or go for 1KZ-TE?

Need your advice. I have just entered the 4x4 Club, and my elder brother is few years old in this club.

I was facing cold starting issue every morning so visited mechanic he said engine is ok check glow plugs then visited electrician he inspected all and said all plugs need to change
I visit market but couldn't find good ones like ngk
So came back but yesterday morning engine started on 1st self after heat now what is the problem
One thing more I have spare y707rs plugs and can i replace them with y107r

If you are experiencing smoke from the intercooler than you have an overactive, stuck or bad EGR valve, this also causes the exhaust to smoke and the engine to lose torque.

Run a full scan on it and test the EGR, a good mechanic can spot it easily.
