Diesel engine in vw beetle and micro?

Hi guys,
Overtime i have seen a number of VW micros and a couple of beetles converted to diesel engines. Theoratically its easy as vw engine is simply mounted on gearbox with 4 bolts and hasnt got any mounts of its own. But practically its another story as it requires very precisely machined adapter plate and fly wheel. Anybody knowing how they do it in pakistan? If anybody having experiance of any such mod pls tell us abt its performance and reliability.

Other than the Fly Wheel and all...... you also need a Radiator...Anyway....I have seen a corolla 95 XE engine in a VW beetle. It works like a charm but it lost in race to my Original 1600cc VW Beetle ...other than that i have seen many VW Micros Buses with toyota 2C diesel engines in them, that is a perfect fit and works great. There is this guy I know who has fitted a toyota 2C diesel engine in a 1977 Micro and he has been all over Pakistan in it. He even fitted a AC in it...In Short ...IT WORKS...

i know this man he fitted a diesel engine in his micro even a turbo 0300-5194691

Yea aridsoul its cos the 1600 twin port vw engine has lots of low end torque but has lil hp (60) compared to toyota so u would have limited top speed (75 mph i guess) he would have ultimately overtook u. But that doesnt make corolla anywhere close to be a ultimate beetle. They will have to sell 2.1 million of those for that. Beetle rocks.
Any idea how pakistani mechanics swap engines in vws?. I mean where do they get adapter plate and flywheeles from?

Well, I have a 74 standard (not 1303) with standard 1200 engine and unable to locate a 1600 twin port engine to upgrade. so looking for other options.
Moreover also looking forward to buy a micro for outdoor escurtions etc which has to have a bit more torqee diesel.
Any suggestions?

Diesel is good for the Micro Bus but never for the Beetle.
