Difference b/w VVTI engines & ones in local cars

What is the difference between VVTI engines and the ones that are used in local assembled cars. Is it supposed to be a good powerful engine?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

well INDUS Toyota's Corolla Xli and GLi 1.3L came up without VVT-i whereas 1.8L ALtis came up with VVT-i....!
well VVT-i is a valve lifting technology like HONDA's i-VTEC
its used to adjust camshafts a/c to situation.......!
In VVT-i.......i stands for intelligent...........in which Engine oil pressure is applied to an actuator to adjust the camshaft position.....
well in 1.3L VVT-i and 1.3L simple 2NZ-FE engine...there'z a difference of almost 6-7HP.........VVT-i provides better torque range than simple on on low RPMs..
VVT-i powered 2NZ-FE puts torque around 123NM@4400 whereas simple one around 119NM@4400RPM

There is hell of difference if u r comparing VITZ engine with CULTUS. As u mention local assemble cars.

But AUTOMATIC VITZ sucks as concern with speed because it has got the AUTO TRANY.

But for the MANUAL VITZ this statement is false, MANUAL VITZ is way faster than any locally assemble car under 1000CC.

(when the valve opens relative to the piston stroke based on engine speed)

VVTi stands for Variable Valve Timing intelligence

VTEC stands for Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control add intelligent for i-VTEC

VVTi when intoduced worked on intake valves only, that means it changed the timing of the intake valves only..but it did that more than once inthe rpm range ..

where as VTEC worked on both intake and exaust valves(thats why it is superior to VVTi) , but only once in the rpm range...

i believe the VVTi technology is still working only on intake valves.....
but i-VTEC now shifts more than once during the rpm range...(thats wat i beleive..cannot confirm..if sumbody can then pls...)

VVTi is already explained above. however there is a misconception about Honda's Vti & Toyota's VVti... some (masoom) people think VVti= Very VTi lollllz

VV or V both stands for Variable Valves!
