Difference between wax and compound polish?

What is the difference bw car wax and compound polish . I am using formula 1 car wax paste on my new honda city 18 tho it gives only shine neither it is protecting car paint from scratches nor removing minor scratches. What should i do to protect new car paint from swirls and scratches

Polish is abrasive
Wax is non abrasive protectant.

Swirls or less swirls depends mainly on the way you clean your car rather on the type of wax you use. Good waxes do protect against swirls but they are useless if youre rubbing your car with a dry 10 rupee cloth.

If you want your car to have less swirls (keep in mind swirls will always come up no matter what you do) stop dry dusting your car.

Buy a pressure washer with a foam lance, a blower, loads of microfibre towels, car shampoo and wax. This is the best you can do.
