then the cars which have rear wheel drive have radiator operated with belt as soon as engine is start radiator fan keeps working but there is a device known as theerrmostat valve installed in every car which has a work 2 stop water from circulating which means cool water in radiator remains in radiator unless engine is heated upto the optimum temp which is half gauge so in these cars direct radiator has 0 affect unless car is heated up level

i have proved in my thread that optimum heated engine consumes less gas as compared to cold ones

on highway mileage do increase due to non-stop driving as in city u hav 2 chang continuosly ur gears which decrease ur mileage

reson i hav explained that our genious mechanics advise us to use direct fan which tottally wrong use auto fan whole year

It is possible.. What's the purpose of fans? Fans are to cool the coolant in radiator... Not the cars engine itself directly. If the fans are ON all the time, coolant would remain cool all the time which is going to result in thermostat being closed most of the time WHICH would result in no coolant flow in radiator...

this can ruin ur engine in only few months

Stop scaring people man.. Yes direct connection is bad in a way.. But not as bad as you are making it sound like. Its not as if your car has direct fan connection... the engine is gonna blow up in a year. Direction fan connection would just keep the fans on all the time even with ignition on.. which would prevent the engine from reching normal operating temperatures.. resulting in what? More fuel consumption!!!

You mean fans operated by belt? NOT radiator... radiators are same in front or rear wheel drive cars.

Correct in a way... But as soon as you press the ac button... ever notice what happens? fans go on to cool the engine so in a way A/C cools the engine.. some times when I am stuck on the highway in summer... I turn the ac on to cool myself and the car.. because in stop and go traffic.. Engine temperature guage goes up to 75% of the guage.

I would like to add that in EFI cars, the situation is a bit complex. There is no thermostat switch, however there is a sensor called ECT (Engine Coolant Temp.) Sensor. It takes the temp. reading and send to ECU which switches on the radiator fan when needed.

Again.. I would like to tell u man!!!! EFI is just a type of fuel injection... it has NOTHING.. to do with the cooling system. Many other cars with differnet types of fuel injection ise ECT (Engine Coolant Temperature) sensor. Thats common.

now auto fan makes it possible 4 engine to gain optimum temp required by engine to perform well as well as to consume less gas
now the reading shown by needle is taken by water\coolant in radiator so if fan is on all the toime n coolant is cool then how can needle showw half guage reading hhhhmmmmmmmm hhhhhhmmmm hhmm hhmm :d:d:d:d

now i m helping ppl to protect there ride from getin ruined as engine remains coolls piston doesnot expand to block the cylinder n moblie oil gets burned in small amounts n burn toxic is swalloowed by the engine
ever think about slow poisoning thats he way engine ruins and engine drinks more gas then needed

only some rear wheel drive cars hav fan oiperated by belt driven by engine so as soon engine starts fan starts but thermostat valve prevents engine fom being tooo cooll

bro ihave cultus 2003 and its radiator fan is direct. temp needle bohat der say half per ati hai wo bhi jub ac on hota hai.mujhay ap say ye bhi poochna tha ke cultus ke automatic choke ka taluk is thermostat se hota hai kia???
bcoz meri cultus ka rpm stable nahin rehta kabhi wo 2 rpm tak chala jata hai.main nain bohat mechnics say check kerwaya but they say that change the corburator. they say that corburator main prob ki wja say rpm stable nahin rehta.
although main ne corburator change kerwya tha but it is slightly used but rpm made no difference so plzz help me in this problem....

half of the problem lies in ur hand
u r running ur car with direct fan which prevents the engine from being to hot to hold rpm
i mean ur engine is not running on optimum temp so the first solution is to convert back to auto fan half problem wiill be solved nh never use car with direct fan in wiinter or summer always drive withj auto fan

problem is that ur engine espscially ur carb is not heated to optimum temp this so ur automatic choke remians open to keep car on idle in this situation air flow is reduced by chike n gas is allowd more to help idling now mixture is rich or ultra rich which make rpm unstable and
is shows 2 it shud remain blow 1 on idle

choke is related with hermostat 2 a lil extent

u said needle comes in middle only when a\c is on
dear a\c cuz engine to run hotter asa it implies more load on engine thats y in comes in mid

remember the optimum temp 4 best peformance is that temp needle shud b on mid while with direct fan it never comes in mid
so convert to auto fan and never use direct fan whether it is cold or hot summer or winter a\c on or off

Yaar how much do you think is the difference of mileage when fan is direct and when its auto. I am asking this because, I have a mehran, which was running on direct fan. But its mileage was very low ( about 6-7 Km/ltr). I have made the fan auto now. So, how much difference im mileage should I expect now.?? Though it has got plugs, new distributor points, a not very old air filter, and I recently got its piston rings installed. Any more suggestion you would like to make to improve my mileage?. Like fuel filter change etc?.

blive me i was also a victem of direct fan n as long as i know facts i switched over to auto fan
i hav khyber n with direct fan it gave me only 8-9 km\liter and on cng 12-13 km\kg
now after using auto fan my mileage is increased amazingly
i goe 12\liter ang 18-20\kg
i experienced more than 40% change

i hav loads of things to do for mileage increase
u said u changed distributor points 4 this hav u changed distributor cap?????????????????

secondly work on igniotion coil a faulty ignition coil eats up power as well as fuel
good ign system ensures well performamce and good mioleage

Thank you Bhaiya for your advice. Yes, your thread was an eye opener and after that I did some research as well,to find out that air/fuel mixture is a function of temperature, as you said.
I have a mehran 91 model. I am not sure about distributor cap. I will ask my mechanic and if not , then i will do it. Wasnt really bothered about ignition coil. I did know that ignition coil has effect on mileage as well. How much do you think it costs?. Please please please help me increase the mileage of my car.

i think u hav overheating problem as u say that with direct fan temp needle comes in mid
in general it never happens my car never came in mid with direct fan even a\c in on but ur car does sometimes it depends on cars but my opinion is to check ur cooilng system

get change ur distributor cap and rotor as this a part of regular tune ups here in pk v never change it but it should b changed so get genuine rotor and dist. cap 4 ur car

ign coil price varies the 1 i intend to buy worth more than 3800 rs till july now wats the price i cant say but must b around 4500
get check ur coil by xpiriens mechanic
91 model mehran had to replace many things 4 better mileage
ign wires also plays part , plugs r essential 2
driving style also effects mileage but ur mileage is bad:s:s:s:s:s

also gget ur grounds also checked by electrician
i hav load of knoiwledge on ign system and mileage
will share it first do as directed
