Disable Seat Belt Warning your self

Hi Friends:

Few days ago I found a document on the interner about how to enable and disable seat belt warning beep in your car. Personally I have tried it in my Mark X and it worked.

I dont know if it would work on any other car but it is worth trying.....give it a try and let us know if it works or not for your car

Here is the process:

Our Ignition key has four Detents:

0 Lock
I Acc
II ON
III Start

1. Insert the key in ignition and turn to ON (II), then press the ODO button and keep it pressing. Make sure you press the ODO button and not Trip A or Trip B

2. Pull out the key from ignition and then release the ODO

3. Put the key in ignition again and turn to ON (II) and keep pressing the ODO button >10 Seconds

4. While pressing the ODO with your left hand, put the seat belt in the buckle with your right hand

5. The B-on/Off would appear in the ODO meter. By pressing the ODO you can select your self either to enable or disable the warning beep

6. Pull out the key and unbuckle the seat belt

Process complete

I have also managed to find few intersting facts about Mark X like Auto Window wind up and down...completely shutting off traction control etc. Also If some one is interested in finding out which transmission oil to use etc ...let me know ..I will be glad to share

IMO seat belt warning beep must be kept enabled at all times. One may find it annoying but its for one's own good. It certainly made me adopt this habit of wearing a seat belt everytime i get behind the wheel.

I do not intend to encourage ppl to stop using seat belts......Its for those within street or a quick drive to the nearby market .......I have seen people sticking things into buckle or putting the belt behind seat to avoid beeps....

I am sure every one is sesible enough to know when to use and not to use seat belt

Isn't it better to buckle up the belt instead of disabbbbbbbliinnnggggg the warning before going to the nearby market or before a quick drive or within street?

Why not plug the seat belt in without wearing it if one is so desperate to avoid the beep without wearing the seat belt.

Why not....Its every ones own preference

We in Islamabad are more inclined to use seat belt as compared to other cities.....where there is no law and people dont use it

Again .....Its just a FYI if any one was interested.....its not to encourage ppl to stop using belts whatso ever

i have X Corolla, and under passenger seat there is a Sensor (plug) so i have unplug it and its stop beeping...though its annoying some time...but i like it:)

I would love to close this topic but sadly I can't. There is no law in Pakistan that prohibits tempering with safety belt operations. It would be a different case here in the US.

Why is it so difficult to understand the incredible usefulness of this safety device? Is it better to die in a crash and attribute it to the will of our creator than at least try to use available safety features to protect ourselves?

I hope no one reading this thread will follow your actions. Obviously it is your choice to do whatever you feel like with your own vehicle; please do not encourage others to do the same.

I will also ask you to reconsider your own decision, for the sake of your own safety and others around you.

i hope you realize that seatbelts are the law in PK and tampering with a safety device in a car "officiall" is illegal in PK (it's like cutting the webbing of the belt),... so you CAN close this thread if you so wish.

i know you didn't mean to post this in a bad way, but rather than sharing this info i think it'd be better that you found something more useful as you are putting peoples lives at risk by doing so.

if you want proof that a short trip to the market can be dangerous (see below):

this happend less than 500 meters from my house. luckily everyone was buckled up.

I was not aware of the fact that a law exists in Pakistan that addresses tempering with safety devices in an automobile. Thank you for helping me increase my awareness.
