Discrepancy between Honda City Manual and Honda 3s quotation for 40K service!

I own a Honda City 1.5 MT. I got a quotation from Honda Gujranwala for its 40K periodic service, for around 30,000 PKR, excluding Air Filter, AC filter, and Brake Pads, which will cost extra. They also included FUEL FILTER change, which cost 14,140 PKR.

Now, i saw the City Manual in which it is advised to change Fuel Filter at 80K odo.
- Manual Transmission fluid is to be changed at 60K Odo.
- Brake Fluid is to be changed Every 3 Years. (asuming Brake Oil & Brake Fluid are same thing)

Fuel Filter alone makes a huge difference of about half the price of total 40k service charges. Plus the labor chanrges are 8500 PKR, PLUS 16% Tax (1360 PKR) on labor charges

And the universal excuse of Honda dealership; " Hamari gariyan jin roads aur mahool me chalto hain, ye manual us ke liye nahi hai" But then, they r selling the cars for the same mahool and roads, yet they keep the manual in those cars for european standards.

Now my humble question... is it really necessary to change Transmission fluid, Brake fluid and Fuel Filter at 40K odo? Will it void the warranty if i refuse to get these from honda at 40k odo? (The ***k im gonna do with warranty anyway if they could NOT do wheel allignment and balancing of my brand new 'misalligned' car, and could NOT replace burnt fog light in warraty)

Always follow user manual never go for so called zaroori service of dealerships

Labour charges and labour tax:D subhanALLAH and fuel filter. MTF 2 litre for 3420rs. total bill 30k. give me minute for a slow clap for these 3s dealerships.

Jo log gariya local workshop sey maintained karwate hain, wo gari maintained nahi hoti keya ? I am hope if you go to any good workshop and do this all stuff, total expense with labour charges etc 9k tak parhe ga.

Check your transmission oil condition, brake fluid condition. if needed then buy from local market and topup. carbo clearer? throttle body cleaning. get your car tune if its needed. and cost you around 500rs if its needed. fuel filter ko kuch nahi hota. if you get refil your tank properly. 80k km keya it will even work more thn that. always do a auto full tank refil. and quarter pe jab needle jae get it refil again and only keep one fuel station you use.

And the guy is saying right yeh manual humharey mahol and roads k li anahi hai so just replace or repair something when there is a need. bus keep in mind k manual me jo threshold dia hua hai us k bad chalney do chezo ko jab tak chalti and then get it replace or do service.

I also had an estimate from one of 2s dealership in RWP and total cost was `45k and out of this approx 17k was for brake pad. No mention of fuel filter etc.

Dealership maintained cars are always expensive and I think they follow the "prevention is better than cure" method by sometimes before-timely changing the stuff.
I think they are right about the fuel quality, it is not at par with international fuel standards, hence early fuel filter replacement.
At least change the transmission oil if nothing else.

I took my car to Toyota dealership for 40k service (in Saudi Arabia) and they charged about 1200 riyals (50000) approx. for the service. So, if you will go by the dealerships , they will charge you more but your car would last longer (in my opinion). Rest you can go without changing anything for more than 1 lakh kms also : )

never do 40k km service do it on 80k km
if you feel power loss low fuel economy or high idle speed

A few months back, I had 85k service done for my Honda city 2012. They told me spark plugs need replacement and one spark plug would cost me Rs 2250 (it was back in Mar/Apr '19 so prices may have gone further up by now). I took a few pics of the spark plug and its size/number etc. and went to Rwp auto parts market same evening bought the same spark plugs (apparently) for Rs. 900 each from a trusted shop (I've been buying car stuff from that shop since mid 1990's) and got it replaced from my trusted mechanic (not Honda employee but trained by Suzuki and owns a workshop) who also confirmed that the new ones are same as the old ones (NGK with same size/type/quality etc etc). Currently my car has done 98k without any trouble since the spark plugs changed and no reason to believe that spark plugs were fake. I saved over Rs 4500 in just one item. I'm not here to advise you to follow me but I do not blindly trust Honda dealership for everything. I try to buy my own parts but frankly the trained labour is the only reason I go for dealers workshop.

Same is for the Fuel filter. I've run my previous Honda City 2005 for 125k before I got the fuel filter replaced although owner's manual mentioned it to be replaced every 40k. Even after 125k and 5 years down the road, the filter was not choked though dirty. The mechanic told me I could have used it for another 10-15k kms. So use the service manual as a guide and not something that is followed blindly.

for brake service and car tuneup 8000? seriously? go to any local good electrician for car tuneup will charge you maxi 500,600rs. brake services. maxi 500.600rs. injector cleaning at 40k ODO? cat con cleaning? gari koi masla ya fuel average me koi issue hai ? baki oils and filters etc ki cost tou thori c uper neche hogi.. BUt this is total zulm bhai. if your car has 140K ODO and doing this all work on our car. chalo manney wali bat hai. but 40K is just like a new car

yar 1lac km chal jae gari, and then you go for next car tune up. thek chal rahe hua tou chalte raho. agar tuning wala banda boley k nahi change karne hoge tou karwa do change

Kisi b chez ko kharab honey sey pehley ya us ki useful life puri honey se pehley replace karney ka keya faida? keya pata ap k spark plugs 1 lac b na chale or unko change karney ki need parh jae? do concern with owner manuals, pata ona chae hai what manual is saying about things, lekan reality b kisi chez ka name hai. zaruri tou nahi sab ki gariya according to owner manual he road pe chal rahi hoti hain. sir I am telling you according to owner manual recommendations
previous models of city are required to change after every 20k km spark plugs.
in owners manual it is written to change brake oil after every 3 years but in reality dealerships they never. but change after every 40k km they even don't bother to tell to customers
written in manual to change air filer 30k km but never lasts till 10k km
so we have to decide the condition of environment and dust level and so many other factors
city is very good car in term of performance if well maintained

Yes I do agree, thats why concern to owner manual, keep in mind what it is saying and see whats in the reality. maintenance tou kisi b gari ki achey se karna us ka haq hai. bus he whave to thik jo teeka 3s dealership lagate hain itna worth b karta k nahi. its not like only 3s dealership wale he gari thek maintain karte hain... BAki ap ki khud ki marzi

Got a quotation for brake service from honda 3s quoting 3000 pkr plus tax. Got the brakes serviced to my utmost satisfaction for 600 pkr
Aur bhai ye saudia nh ha yhn koi quality control warranty k concept nh ha. Many a times i have seen honda and suzuki mechanics in their spotless uniforms looking for some qabli part. Customer ko kehte hn k karachi s order kia ha 1 week mn a jay ga 27,000 k pre ga. khud ja k sultan ke khu s kabli 2700 k utha lete hn. I dont trust dealership with my car, i have some serious reservations regarding their maintenance practices as well

This is definitely a "Pakistani mahol wala Owner's Manual" - hence the antiquated 5k km/3 months oil change interval.

If it was European, it would be 10k km at the very least.
