Display with dashes in Toyota Yaris instrument cluster

I have a Toyota Yaris 1.3 CVT ATIV. When you scroll through the screen where mileage and fuel average are given, there is one display with only dashes. Sometimes there are more dashes on it sometimes less. I don't know what that means. What does it mean?

That is the brightness. When you have parking lights on it means its night time so night time brightness and daytime brightness can be set independently
Cycle through to the display with dashes and hold the knob you will see the dashes decrease to lowest then to highest
