DIY Car Camera Mount in less then 15 minutes

superb idea and a superb invention, have been thinking on how to fix my camera on for a longtime. Unfortunately i don't have headrests on my mutt, but the idea of the aluminum bar is great.

1.good 1.i like thinking innovative minds. 2.just an advice for improvement.get a sort of + made with the rod.attach it to the inner bars of both headrests.this will make it strong and safe.moreover the camera can move left,right and up and down.cover the rod with that thick black foam you get.use a blade to cut along the path of the nut.this will make it look neat and be safer. 10/10 for the idea though!

This idea came when i was waiting for some friends, i saw the rod and made it, it was not preplanned. Thats the reason that its not a neat job. I dont need up down cause if i move the camera up or down the target will be inside the car, check the camera location again.
I will use the foam as you suggested

Good luck HB! If you dont need the up/down mov then try attaching the same rod between the inner guiding rods of both headrests thus eliminating one loose end.it will be shorter and stronger as it'll be fixed at both ends.for a 15 min job it is a job well done in all regards.if u plan making a new stand then using a round pipe with adjusters used in mike stands will make it a true professional type of a camera stand! And can give u good adjusting angles

Brilliant DIY HB. Very simple and well done.

I have a suggestion. I saw the video and noticed that the bumps in the road were translated in the video. I think attaching some small springs or maybe rubber stops under the rod where it is attached with the headrest. His will dampen the up and down motion caused by the road conditions. Of course you will have to experiment with the rigidity of the springs to get the dampening just perfect but I think it will greatly nimprove the video.

I did all the tests, it doesn't need adjustment, check the camera location and the vdo i posted, it has a perfect view. I just have to turn it to the right to capture the Speedo:)

Very creative and intelligent use of a rod that was useless and headed for garbage Hanif Bhai. This is the type of DIY everyone can use.

3 friends are stranded on an island and see a pile of bricks. 1 person sees it as obstacle and suggests to remove it. The other person sees it as a weapon and tried to use it as such while the most intelligent and creative of them used it for a creative purpose and benefit, and uses it to build a shelter. All the people see same thing for different purpose. Those who use their brain the most, benefit the most.

Those who say this camera mount is dangerous, actually it is more safer than a person trying to drive and use the camera at the same time, which can almost definatley lead to an accident. If mounted securely, which it does seem to be, it will not swing wildly and hit anyone.
