Good luck HB! If you dont need the up/down mov then try attaching the same rod between the inner guiding rods of both headrests thus eliminating one loose end.it will be shorter and stronger as it'll be fixed at both ends.for a 15 min job it is a job well done in all regards.if u plan making a new stand then using a round pipe with adjusters used in mike stands will make it a true professional type of a camera stand! And can give u good adjusting angles

I dont want camera to move, i think its the best location..About fixing it on both front head rest wont be possible cause if the Passenger wants to sleep and recline his seat, he cant.

I have a suggestion. I saw the video and noticed that the bumps in the road were translated in the video. I think attaching some small springs or maybe rubber stops under the rod where it is attached with the headrest. His will dampen the up and down motion caused by the road conditions. Of course you will have to experiment with the rigidity of the springs to get the dampening just perfect but I think it will greatly nimprove the video.

The bumps you see are in 8x vdo, in 1x i dont see any bumps. Thanks for your advice

Very creative and intelligent use of a rod that was useless and headed for garbage Hanif Bhai. This is the type of DIY everyone can use.

3 friends are stranded on an island and see a pile of bricks. 1 person sees it as obstacle and suggests to remove it. The other person sees it as a weapon and tried to use it as such while the most intelligent and creative of them used it for a creative purpose and benefit, and uses it to build a shelter. All the people see same thing for different purpose. Those who use their brain the most, benefit the most.

Those who say this camera mount is dangerous, actually it is more safer than a person trying to drive and use the camera at the same time, which can almost definatley lead to an accident. If mounted securely, which it does seem to be, it will not swing wildly and hit anyone.

On my last trip to Islamabad i made a vdo holding the camera in one hand, that time i thought its dangerous, i should fix the camera in the car.

You should make one, If you are traveling alone the you can fix it on the passenger seat, and turn it to the right, you will get the inside and outside view both, I dont need the inside view so the current position is right for me.
If i zoom a little bit i get complete outside view, and if i zoom out i get some part of the Dash.

I've known Hanif Bhai thru this website since 2004, under a different name Its the "creative" effort of Hanif Bhai in creating this website, and now all of us around the world are benefitting from it. Think about it people, where will you be, if it was not for this website, and the ability to share your thoughts comments about cars, and other things that attract us. Maybe on Youtube but that site is not that much fun and you rarely can make lifelong friendships on those mainly American and other countries websites.

Hanif Bhai is very creative (intelligent) person, and I am not surprised that this "safe camera mount" is yet another creation of HB, among probably many other we don't know yet. Care to share with us those other ideas Hanif Bhai, maybe we all can benefit from your knowledge, expertise.

Its Excellent idea but needs more holes to be drilled unless centerview is all that is required. If you add 2 or3 more holes then you can change positions and views as you like. I know you will say why? coz you do not drive fast but what if you had to do a training video for some one and show your driving style, your hands and feet will be visible One more thing changing the tilt angle of the camera can be done by changing the seat recline angle, LOL!

The curtain rod experiment failed, the rod was flexible, it jumped on dirt tracks.

Today i removed it and kept the camera on the dash, it worked fine.

The result is good, just have to take care of the reflection and duck tape the camera.

Check the Bull Bar and the hood, its moving up and down but the camera is not
